At Staples, we believe it is our responsibility to do our part to ensure the communities we live and work in are healthy and thriving. To help contribute to this goal, our annual #EventheOdds “Gift of Giving” campaign in partnership with MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions is officially back. Interested in getting involved? Here’s how! Now through Sunday, Dec. 15, every Staples store across Canada is selling exclusive “Inspiration Kits” for $7.98. Head to your local store today to make an impact with a gift that gives back! The Even the Odds inspiration kits are a perfect gift for teachers, kids, and anyone in your life who could use a bit of “inspiration,” and are a great way to give the gift of giving this season! Also, on Tuesday, Dec. 3 (International Giving Tuesday), stores and online platforms will accept donations of $2, $5, and $10. One hundred percent of all proceeds raised through Inspiration Kit sales and Giving Tuesday donations go to Even the Odds and support MAP programs and research that directly impact communities across the country. The end-of-year giving season is like the Super Bowl for nonprofits - except instead of touchdowns, we’re scoring donations... and if you’re not leveraging matching gifts, you’re leaving money on the field. Here’s the deal: nearly 30% of donations happen in December, and 10% come in the last three days. Add matching gifts to the mix, and you can double (or triple!) the impact of every donation. Think of it as a holiday BOGO for generosity. Here’s how to get those matches rolling: 1️⃣ Promote matching gifts everywhere. Emails, social posts, direct mail—if it’s a communication, it needs a matching gift mention. Bonus points if you include a QR code. (Yes, they’re still cool.) 2️⃣ Create a standout matching gift page. Make it easy to find, mobile-friendly, and so clear that even Uncle Bob can figure it out during halftime. Pro tip: Include a matching gift database tool so donors can instantly check eligibility. 3️⃣ Use urgency to your advantage. Deadlines are powerful—“Submit your match before Dec. 31!” sounds way better than, “Hey, do this sometime.” 4️⃣ Follow up with unmatched gifts. Remember those donors from earlier in the year? They might not have claimed their match yet. Now’s the perfect time for a friendly nudge. Check out our latest blog from our friends over at Double the Donation for more tips on how to use matching gifts to boost year-end fundraising. ( Link to matching-gift tune-up tips in the comments )

Kudos to anyone doing the Big Give Christmas Challenge this week. Hopefully a sigh of relief now that is live. This campaign is the perfect example of how fundraising is more than just asking for money. It demonstrates the amount of under-the-surface work and effort that goes into fundraising. Most audiences will only see this fortnight of pre- and post-communications, promoting and soliciting the appeal. What they will not see: May - administrative meetings and planning to incorporate this work June - application writing and submission July - marketing prep and solicitation to procure pledges from donors in support of matchfunding. First pledges received August - continue calling for pledges whilst running any Edinburgh Festival-related work September - stewardship and follow-up activities for pledge activity throughout the summer October - prospecting for supporters and gifts for December November - marketing, communications and media planning for December. December - launch the campaign, steward and update donors and audiences, capitalise on any news or events that will help promote the campaign January 2025 - Follow up with all supporters and people who engaged with the campaign. So again kudos. Kudos for the past year. Kudos for all the planning and shouting about the tip of the iceberg, whilst managing and conducting all that goes on under the surface. Well done and I hope it is a smashing success. #fundraising #morethananask #thebiggive

Evolve Fitness’ 2nd Saturday Food Drive: Where Community Meets Purpose At Evolve, we’ve always believed in the power of community. That’s why our 2nd Saturday Food Drive has become more than just an event—it’s a symbol of our commitment to give back. Inspired by Charleston’s iconic “2nd Sunday” tradition, where locals and businesses come together to support one another, we decided to put our own twist on this beautiful idea. But why the 2nd Saturday? For us, it’s about creating a consistent opportunity to not only work on our physical health but also strengthen the ties that bind us to our community. Our food drive runs from today through Monday, the 16th, with all donations going directly to Our Lady of Sorrows. Whether it’s non-perishable food items, canned goods, or everyday staples, everything we collect helps families in need right here in our neighborhood. We started this initiative because we recognized that health and wellness extend far beyond the gym. Sure, we focus on building strong bodies, but part of that strength comes from knowing we can make an impact on the lives of others. Our members and our team at Evolve are dedicated to “moving with purpose,” and this food drive is one more way we can live that mission. Here’s where you come in: We’re inviting everyone—members, friends, neighbors—to bring a donation to the studio. Together, we can create meaningful change and support our local community. At Evolve, we don’t just train for ourselves. We train to live life without limits—and that means lifting others up along the way. 📅 Don’t miss your chance to participate! Drop your donations off by Monday, 16th. #EvolveMillburn #GiveBack #2ndSaturday #CommunitySupport #MillburnNJ #LifeWithoutLimits #FitnessForAll #WellnessJourney #SouthOrangeNJ #WestOrangeNJ #MaplewoodNJ
