NWOYA CHARITY FOUNDATION (NCF) Statement for Human Rights Day 10th December 2024. Today, as the world commemorates Human Rights Day, we are reminded of the universal truth that human rights are inherent, inalienable, and indivisible for every person, everywhere. This year’s theme, “Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All,” calls us to action against the injustices and inequalities that persist in our societies. Human rights are the foundation of peace, development, and a just society. Yet, too many people, especially women and marginalized groups, continue to face violence, discrimination, and oppression. We cannot achieve true equality and progress until every person can live free from fear and with the assurance that their rights are protected and respected. As we close the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, let us reaffirm our commitment to advancing the rights of survivors of violence and those at risk. Their right to safety, dignity, and justice is a human right, and it is our collective responsibility to defend it. On this day, let us: Stand united against all forms of human rights abuses. Champion laws and policies that protect the vulnerable. Build systems and communities that uphold equity, justice, and inclusion. Speak up for those whose voices go unheard. Human rights are not a privilege—they are a promise. A promise that we must continue to fulfill, every day and for everyone. Let us work together to create a future where dignity, freedom, and justice are not ideals but realities for all. "For human rights defenders, the intersection is mostly with women and girls and reflects the way many women’s funds, most notably the Urgent Action Funds, conceptualize their work. For sex workers, the primary overlap is with women and girls and, to a lesser extent, LGBTQI people." Human Rights Funders Network (HRFN) mentioned our work connecting the rights of sex workers to other groups through our grantmaking in their latest report.
