Gradually we have moved from mummy brush my teeth to mummy watch me while I brush to saying to his sister, Maamaa come let me teach you how to brush your teeth😊. About 3 weeks before the holiday began, I've carefully focused on improving the skills we will need to have zero conflicts in the mornings when school resumes. Getting a 3 year old plus to agree to brush his teeth and finish his breakfast all by himself has been the major squabble between him and anyone preparing him for school. Most of the times, in order to meet up with time and not get locked out of the school for being late, my niece would always take up brushing him and feeding him. That has always stood on the way to me achieving the independence I wanted for him in his basic aspects of personal hygiene and feeding. I also noted the behavioral changes in my son that I was so comfortable with and addressing those were my focus for the holiday. Holiday lessons never featured in that plan. We started talking about being a good leader and the things that are appropriate for him to effectively be a leader over his sister and relate better with other adults around. I decided to take my daughter (less than 2 years old) along in all the routines I put in place in the past weeks and the results have been amazing. We are so getting used to the different routines throughout the day that we have minimal disagreement or tantrums. Most parents are of the opinion that intentionality in parenting should start at a later age, probably from 5-6 and above. But hey, your intentionality actually should start way back before conception throughout pregnancy till you have your bundle of joy in your own hands. More preparation = Better childbirth Think of your preparation like studying for a test in school. If you study more, you have much bigger chances of success. The same thing is for childbirth and postpartum. Better you prepare, easier it will be. You gotta take action. Don't just sit down and be scared. If you prepare your confidence will be much bigger.
