A recent analysis highlights significant challenges faced by Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Class (OBC) students in gaining admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) without reservation. Research conducted by Dheeraj Singh, an IIT Kanpur alumnus, indicates that it could take SC students over 367 years and ST students nearly 400 years to achieve scores comparable to their general category counterparts under current conditions. https://lnkd.in/gTSGkGyi

This has been long overdue. When PARAKH-NCERT had shared the proposal for including performance in grades 9-12 with further weightage splits between internal assessment and cumulative summative assessment. I thought it was a great first step. Kudos to Indrani Bhaduri and her wonderful team. However, I see scope for some more elaboration and in the process committed to sharing my proposal on that post. Here it is (after about 2-3 months of adding the comment). Apologies for the delay - time has been a pain in the derriere (for those in the know). It proposes multiple things: 1. How to define a single score of performance in #school years that takes into account the multiple dimensions of a student over 7 years. 2. An elaboration on what could be considered in lieu of the "Formative #Assessment Marks" suggested by PARAKH. 3. How #schooling can remain relevant and vital into the #higherEducation world. *Spoiler alert* some graves would need to be dug! If the #NEP should move from proposal and policy to actual on ground implementation, this, I propose, is one way. Would love to read your thoughts (either here or on Medium). https://lnkd.in/dRKYaFcN

🌟 Reflecting on My First Year as a BTech Student at JECRC University! 🌟 As I wrap up my first year in the BTech program at JECRC University, I’m excited to share my journey so far. It’s been a remarkable year filled with learning, growth, and unforgettable experiences. Academic Insights: The rigorous curriculum has been both challenging and rewarding. Courses in computer science, mathematics, and engineering fundamentals have provided a strong foundation. The faculty members are incredibly supportive, always ready to guide and inspire us. Exciting Events and Activities: 1. Technical Workshops: From coding marathons to robotics workshops, these events have been crucial in applying theoretical knowledge to real-world problems. 2. Guest Lectures: We had the honor of learning from industry experts, including a memorable session on leadership by Smrrati Srivastava ma’am, which was truly transformative. 3. Cultural Fests: Events like JU Rhythm provided a platform to showcase our talents and connect with peers from diverse backgrounds. The energy and enthusiasm at these fests are unparalleled. Looking Ahead: As I step into the next year, I’m more motivated than ever to dive deeper into my studies, participate in more events, and continue growing both academically and personally. Thank you to all my professors, peers, and the JECRC community for making this first year an incredible learning experience! #BTech #FirstYearExperience #JECRCUniversity #StudentLife #Engineering #Growth #LearningJourney
