Truck rentals dip in Nov. after festive rush, says a report. Truck rentals, which had returned to normal levels in October 2024 after the festive season rush, declined in November 2024 across most trunk routes due to softened demand for transportation services, according tothe Shriram Mobility report by the Shriram Group. Truck rental rates (round trips) on key trunk routes like Delhi-Chennai-Delhi and Delhi-Bengaluru-Delhi declined by 1.4 per cent and 1 per cent respectively on a month-on-month (M-o-M) basis, stated the Shriram Mobility report by the Shriram Group. Fleet occupancy levels dropped to around 60 per cent in November 2024 on a M-o-M basis. This decline was attributed to weak urban demand across categories, the Bharat Stage IV (BS IV) truck ban in the National Capital Region (NCR) due to air pollution, polling activities in Maharashtra, and reduced movement of agricultural produce, as per a report. Around 40,000km have been electrified since 2014, versus 21,801 in all the years prior to 2014. With 94% of lines electrified as of 1 January 2024, PM Modi has pledged that Indian Railways will achieve 100% electrification within “a few months”. India has two dedicated freight corridors (DFCs) that cover 3,260 kilometers (2,030 miles) in length: · Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC): Runs from Ludhiana in Punjab to Dankuni in West Bengal · Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC): Runs from Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai to Dadri in Uttar Pradesh this should ease pressure on movement of Passenger traffic. That’s called achievement. What next? Providing affordable conveyance to India’s masses using Inter city, Intra city (suburban & Metro) and transportation of goods, particularly perishable fruits & vegetables to control food inflation.

India's transportation sector is undergoing a massive transformation, and the recent developments are clear indicators of this shift. Our tryst with the railways goes all the way back to 1853 when the first passenger line opened between Bori Bunder (Mumbai) to Thane, ferrying 400 passengers. It was the same Indian Railways (even though under British Raj) which ferried Mahatma Gandhi and many other freedom fighters to connect with the masses, reaching far off areas as we fought for our independence. Today, we are witnessing another historic event with a series of developments, reflecting the growth, mobility and connection in new India. Government initiatives in upgrading the railways, platforms and coaches are transforming the perception of the Indian railways. This is further enhanced with new metro facilities be it #NaMoBharat or the #VandeMetro. As pointed out by Min. Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Indian Railways has come a long way, becoming an active enabler of economic growth. Additionally, the recent statement by Min. Hardeep Singh Puri on urban metro highlights our ambition with a focus on sustainable urban solutions. This reflects our ability to revitalize crucial sectors through strategic planning, execution, and a data-driven approach, aligning them with the evolving needs of a rapidly developing nation. A robust transportation network facilitates the efficient movement of goods and people, attracting investments, and fostering industrial growth across regions. By aligning our strategies with India's infrastructure blueprint, we can collectively shape a future where seamless mobility, economic dynamism, and sustainable growth coexist. #IndianRailways #VandeBharat #Transport #Logistics #MakeInIndia #AtmanirbharBharat #IndiaRailNetwork #Manufacturing #Mobility #NewIndia #UrbanPlanning #India
