Hurricane Helene made landfall in Georgia yesterday evening, bringing significant disruption to the region. Small storm, massive storm, or any storm in the middle! In times like these, it becomes crucial for leaders at all levels of an organization to have a well-thought-out strategy in place for their teams. This includes having contingency plans for workflow disruptions, a reliable communication system to ensure the wellbeing of every employee, and even being ready to assist with personal challenges, such as tree removal, car trouble, or providing essential supplies in the wake of power outages. Many may not recognize it, but these actions are part of an essential HR strategy. From the corporate office to the local level, supporting your team is more than just a formal process – it's about embodying the core of HR: being human. Leadership is about more than business continuity; it's about compassion, adaptability, and making sure your team knows they are valued, especially during times of crisis. . . . #hr #peoplematter #employees #humanresources #employees #Atlanta Karen Hunte Sarah Powell Barry Marston, MBA Trip Barnes Alexis Ziobrowski Bruce Hill Brandon Miller Taylor Deadrick

Hurricane season is here, and with another major storm approaching, HR and People teams need a robust plan to support employees who may be impacted. Here are a few key considerations: 1) Roles & Responsibilities: Identify who will track employee health and safety issues and how communication will be handled. This could be the Workplace team or the People team for smaller companies 2)Prioritize Safety: Have a business continuity plan so employees can focus on their well-being, without the pressure to maintain operations during the storm. 3) Policies: Ensure pay policies are clear for non-working days and those unable to work due to power or internet outage. For severely impacted employees, outline any extended time-off options. 4) Proactive Outreach: A plan means nothing if it's not communicated. Send an email with links to resources and relevant policies ahead of time. You can also supplement comms by using internal messaging tools like Slack. Preparation and communication are key to helping employees stay safe and get the support they may need during these times. Be safe out there. #HRLeadership #DisasterPreparedness #EmployeeWellbeing #HurricaneSeason #HurricaneMilton #WorkplaceSafety #EmployeeExperience

As Hurricane Helene passed through, it served as a powerful reminder of the importance of having a Business Continuity Plan in place. During the storm, many businesses had to rely on their preparations to maintain operations or recover quickly. For any business, large or small, ensuring operations can continue—or quickly resume—in the face of natural disasters is vital to long-term success. Now is the time to: 1. Review safety protocols for all employees. 2. Ensure remote work capabilities are in place. 3. Communicate clearly with clients about any potential disruptions. 4. Test your contingency plans to identify any weaknesses. Resilience and adaptability are key in times like these. In recent days, my thoughts have been with those affected by Hurricane Milton 🌪️. This situation has highlighted how natural disruptions can impact not only people's lives but also supply chains. It has made me reflect on the strategic importance of risk diversification for companies 💡📦. 🌍 By having team members distributed across different locations, companies can reduce the likelihood of being severely affected by an incident in a specific area and enhance their ability to recover after a disaster. Team members can support one another during disruptions, finding temporary solutions while facing the natural disaster and its consequences. 🚨 To respond effectively to crises, it's crucial to select the right talent. A team equipped with strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and adaptability can significantly strengthen a company in challenging situations. Identifying individuals who can thrive under pressure and work collaboratively across regions can make all the difference when navigating disruptions. 🔑 In times like these, collaboration is key to becoming stronger. This is an opportunity to reflect on how to build resilient teams that can face challenges together, regardless of their location. If you're considering options to enhance your team through nearshoring, I’m here to support you in finding the right solutions 👩💼 🚚 #HurricaneMilton #SupplyChainResilience #Nearshoring #RiskManagement #Adaptability #LeanSolutionsGroup

🌪️ A Day in the Life of Fox: The Staffing Manager Cat 🐾 🌪️ As we all gear up for #HurricaneMilton, Fox (my furry co-manager) and I have been hard at work prepping—both for the storm and for keeping our productivity paws-itively strong through uncertain times! Fox is already a pro at staying cool under pressure. Whether it’s finding the purr-fect spot for a nap (strategically chosen based on WiFi signal, of course) or overseeing my inbox with laser focus, Fox reminds me that being adaptable is key in staffing—especially when unpredictable challenges like weather roll in! Here’s how Fox and I stay productive during stormy times: Plan ahead – Just like Fox prepares for naps, we prepare for staffing needs by making sure we’re fully stocked with coffee and talent pipelines. Stay flexible – Fox can switch up locations if the window perch gets too windy. Similarly, we adjust our strategies to meet the ever-changing needs of clients. Communication is key – Whether it’s a loud meow or a quick email, we keep everyone in the loop. Especially important when hurricanes (or hiring storms!) are brewing. Fox’s advice for staffing managers facing uncertainty: Stay calm, stay prepared, and always leave a little room for cat-napping. Stay safe out there, and remember—your staffing solutions should be as adaptable as your hurricane kit. (Fox suggests including extra snacks for both!) #StaffingManagement #HurricanePrep #WeatheringTheStorm #CatWisdom #ProductivityWithFox #AdaptabilityInStaffing #WestPalmBeach #NowHiring #DIML #FoxyBrown

🌪️ People Operations: Leading with Compassion Through Hurricane Helene 🌪️ As People Operations professionals, we know that a company’s true strength is revealed in how it supports its people—especially in times of crisis. When something like Hurricane Helene hits, it's our responsibility to ensure our employees feel safe, valued, and supported. At our core, it's about creating an environment that goes beyond work. By offering hot meals, essential supplies, and a safe place to gather, we provide not only physical relief but also emotional reassurance. People need to know their company stands by them in every sense—helping them take care of their families, their well-being, and their mental health. This is the true heart of People Operations. It’s not just about policies and procedures—it’s about understanding that creating a culture of care builds long-lasting trust and loyalty. When employees see that their leaders are willing to go the extra mile to provide support, it strengthens the bond that makes a workplace feel like a second home. A positive work environment is not only built during the good times; it's solidified in moments like these. Companies foster resilience and unity by putting people first and showing compassion, which affects every aspect of employee engagement and morale. At the end of the day, great leaders and organizations understand: that when you invest in your people, they will rise to any challenge together. #PeopleOperations #HurricaneHelene #EmployeeSupport #CompanyCulture #Leadership #EmployeeWellBeing #EmpathyAtWork

Prioritizing Employee Well-being During Weather Disasters In the wake of Hurricane Beryl, it's more important than ever for leaders to prioritize the safety and well-being of their employees. Here are some essential steps to consider: Communicate Early and Often: Keep employees informed about the situation, potential risks, and any safety precautions they should take. Use multiple communication channels to ensure everyone receives the message. Offer Flexible Work Arrangements: If possible, allow employees to work from home or adjust their schedules to avoid hazardous weather conditions. This demonstrates care and flexibility. Provide Access to Resources: Share information about local shelters, emergency services, and support organizations that employees can reach out to if needed. Check In on Employees: Regularly reach out to employees, especially those who may be vulnerable or affected by the disaster. Offer emotional support and assistance. Support Employee Needs: Be understanding of employees' personal situations and offer assistance with needs that may arise due to the disaster. By taking these steps, leaders can create a supportive environment where employees feel valued and cared for during challenging times. This not only promotes their well-being but also fosters loyalty and commitment to the team. #EmployeeWellbeing #WeatherDisasters
