As the first "Monday in May" approaches-or what is otherwise known as "The Met Gala, " the theme of “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” will be THE most opportune time for some of the world's most influential faces to put fashion sustainability in the spotlight. I hope they highlight WHY sustainability matters. WHY great quality (proper vintage) is better value due to its longetivity. WHY circularity matters. As the NY Times article highlights, this event could be "one that could function as a requiem, a warning sign and a reminder of the fundamental importance of regeneration. It’s pretty much an ode to nature,” said Andrew Bolton, curator-in-charge of the Costume Institute and the man behind the idea. “Nature as a metaphor for fashion and its fragility and its ephemerality.” WHO will make the best statement? (Thanks to their stylist) WHO can showcase knowledge? and WHO just wants to be in the spotlight? (I thinK I May know 1) #metgala This is your time to be the catalyst for change in fashion for a global audience. It may not change the world yet, but it could be a start!

The first Monday in May: Fashion's biggest red carpet and party moment! The Met Gala in New York City. What is it? It’s The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute benefit, a black-tie extravaganza held the first Monday in May. Hosted by Anna Wintour,editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine, it is the party of the year, the Oscars of the East Coast. One of the co-hosts of the event is actress, Zendaya. In the image she is going to a pre-opening event party. The event is a celebration of fashion's influence on culture, with the theme "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" highlighting the ways in which fashion can revitalize and reinterpret cultural heritage. How can fashion revitalize and reintrpret cultural heritage? 🔸 Self-expression and identity: Fashion allows individuals to express their personality, values, and beliefs, helping to shape their sense of self and identity. 🔸 Social status and hierarchy: Fashion has long been a marker of social status, with certain styles and brands signifying wealth, prestige, or belonging to a particular group. 🔸 Cultural exchange and diversity: Fashion facilitates cross-cultural exchange, with styles and influences from different cultures blending and evolving into new trends. 🔸 Artistic and creative expression: Fashion is a form of artistic expression, with designers and stylists using clothing, textiles, and accessories as a medium for creative storytelling. 🔸 Economic and social change: Fashion can drive economic growth, influence social change, and reflect shifting values and attitudes, such as the rise of sustainable fashion. 🔸 Music, film, and art inspiration: Fashion is often inspired by music, film, and art, and in turn, influences these creative fields. 🔸 Historical and cultural heritage*: Fashion can preserve cultural heritage and historical traditions, with traditional clothing and textiles being reinterpreted and reimagined for modern times. Zendaya's 1998 archival gown from designer John Galliano, below, features embroidered butterflies and florals is a stunning example of how fashion can pay homage to the past while embracing the present. #fashion #Metmuseum #costumeinstitute #personalbrand #smashingdaily

Fashion archives are culture: why not open them up to everyone? Brands open #museums and archives where they preserve their physical and #creative memory. Places that present themselves as spaces of dialogue between past and future, where one can study the #evolution of costume and understand that #fashion is #culture. But all too often, they remain almost inaccessible, all too #exclusive. Why not open them up to everyone? 👉 https://lnkd.in/eCyuJ7Tf . . #lineapellemagazine

Our images showing the latest fresh fashion trends. Unique concept fashion art fresh blend with fashion trends. Fashion can indeed be considered a form of art. It merges elements of design, creativity, and self-expression to craft clothing and accessories that reflect cultural, social, and individual aesthetics. Fashion is a tool we use to express our inner feelings through the clothes we wear. When art and fashion combine, they can become a topic of deep and stimulating conversation. Art urges fashion designers to engage with unusual techniques and processes, and incorporate them into their design process for the human body. Unlike art, the consumption of fashion is not based primarily on knowledge or education but functions through visual awareness, a type of sensuality and perception of the corporeal self. https://lnkd.in/gpsJbXDb www.artsorigin.com Please contact our email: [email protected] #Fashion #Modern_Art #Fashion_Design #beauty #Merchants_of_Style

How can emerging designers last in a fashion ecosystem disillusioned by profitability and the democratization of dupe culture? Whenever I get the opportunity, I love to advocate for interdisciplinary brands cutting our minds and renewed sense of identification. With the rising cost of production at all stratagems within the relentless so-called inflation, misunderstanding is displayed in the consumer's decision-making process. Turmoil and gen AI force brands to inject a sense of humour, deliberately mixing facades, and harnessing the internal image of their creative directors to intensify transcendence. Such an example came across my readings today... Charles Jeffrey for Charles Jeffrey's Loverboy has deeply rooted its 10th anniversary with humility and the power of community building with its loverboy... everything. Those who are familiar with the rabbits and childlike collectible hats know that the brand is more serious with fashion than a first glance with cross-referential language tracing to Rei Kawakubo, and Alexander McQueen. “Charles’s visual looks for the clothing are completely unique,” the exhibition designer David Curtis-Ring said. “On the one hand, some of them can be quite outlandish … But then others are completely adorable.” He is referencing the hats with bunny and cat ears that came about, Jeffrey said, as a joke but are now a bestseller. https://lnkd.in/eQJGq35d #advocacy #emergingdesigners #authenticity #businessoffashion #selfawareness #outlandish #creativedesign

Reflecting on this year's Met Gala, themed "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" with a dress code of "The Garden of Time," it's clear that the event continues to be a spectacular showcase of creative expression. However, a look through this morning's red carpet images might suggest that for some, the line between being fashionably dressed and merely 'dressed up' seems to blur. The Met Gala's core mission is to honor the longevity and transformative power of fashion, but does the current interpretation on the red carpet truly reflect this vision? As fashion enthusiasts, it's worth discussing whether these appearances emphasize style and tradition or if they lean more towards theatrical costumes. What's your take on the balance between innovation and respect for timeless fashion at such high-profile events? #MetGala #FashionIndustry #StyleDebate
