Nikhil Hirdaramani (Hirdaramani Group), Vincenzo Cangioli (Cangioli 1859), and Andrés Bragagnini (Apparel Impact Institute) shared essential strategies for weathering the storm with suppliers, addressing the critical need for standardisation in sustainability efforts. Amy Tsang (The Mills Fabrica), alongside Andrew Wolfson (Blueground Ventures), explored funding the future of sustainable fashion, providing advice for scaling innovation while meeting evolving market demands. Peter Semple (Depop) highlighted how creative marketing can drive mass adoption of circular fashion, offering actionable insights for the industry. Sparxell demonstrated how bold brands can achieve vibrant #colours and intricate designs without compromising on #sustainability. Looking forward to reading The GANNI Playbook next month. When the fashion landscape falls short on accountability, Ganni is committed to acting responsibly, authenticity and where possible, sustainability. For example their goal of using 90% of preferred materials by 2025 is ambitious and inspiring, citing cancelling colours of a best seller until a suitable replacement material is found. Hoping their actions and shared learnings will inspire action as they ‘demonstrate the principles of a responsible business, where greater purpose co-exists with financial ambition’. There is also something special about GANNI creativity, where pieces are worn season after season and always pass the ‘Does this spark joy?’ test at every wardrobe edit! Therefore already embodying conscious consumption, by the very nature & desirability of the collections. #responsibility #sustainability #action #authenticity #accountability #gannigirls #ganni Brooke Roberts-Islam

🌟 How can we scale up innovation? Last week Nicolaj Reffstrup, Julia Sieger and I had the great opportunity to discuss at 2050NOW La Maison (ex-Netexplo) on how to scale innovation in the fashion industry to decarbonize it. Key Takeaways: 🛍 Brands and innovators need to collaborate to push this industry, like Ganni A/S has been doing since 2016. 📈 Brands need to help innovators get the leverage they need to raise the funding to scale, mostly by off-take agreements. ⚖ There is a gap in funding. Funds need to be injected in the setup of manufacturing capacity in order to implement new innovations and climb down the cost curve. Due to the cash conversion cycles typically seen in this industry, this funding is exceeding early VC funding but is not yet ready for private equity funding. ♻ We can not lean on the consumers, legislation, brands, and manufacturers have to be the drivers of change ⏯ Watch the full conversation here: https://lnkd.in/eq99gyAH #fashion #sustainablefashion #sustainability #scaleup #innovation #fashioninnovation

When it comes to data, what is fashion doing right? ”You are showing up”.- Scott Raskin, CEO of Worldly This was one of the questions that sparked a thought-provoking conversation with Scott Raskin, CEO of Worldly, during the Global Fashion Summit 2024. After a moment of silence, following the question, Scott said: "They are showing up. They are talking, they are looking for innovation. They are looking to solve it and they are working really hard at it." What was clear when I spoke with Scott is that it is important that the fashion industry adopts a "we" approach rather than a "me" approach. Collaboration and collective effort are crucial to driving meaningful change and innovation. This insightful discussion, was part of the main stage conversation titled "Reshape, Rethink: Innovating Data," focused on addressing the next level of the value chain in the fashion industry. Alongside Scott, the panel also featured Jeremy Lardeau, Senior Vice President of Higg Index, Cascale, and Atnyel Guedj, Chief Product Officer of Made2Flow. Together, we explored how the industry is making strides by embracing data, fostering collaboration, and continuously seeking innovative solutions to enhance sustainability and efficiency. When it becomes available, you can watch the full conversation on Global Fashion Agenda’s On-Demand Video Library: https://lnkd.in/e-xdWMYx. Let's continue to show up, talk, innovate, and work hard together to reshape and rethink the future of fashion! 🌍👗✨ #GlobalFashionSummit #InnovatingData #Sustainability #FashionIndustry #Collaboration #Innovation #DataDrivenFashion

How can we really make an impact on the fashion industry? In more than 180 (!) years C&A has been driving innovation and navigating through a variety of challenges. Following our value of #ForwardThinkingAndActing, we define ourselves as an always-on learning community. Over time, we have built internal know-how and strong connections in the industry – this is now more important than ever: 🟢 We believe in the power of collaboration instead of competition Only in alliance with our longstanding partners – including fashion brands, NGOs, scientists, innovators and manufacturers – can we create the structural changes needed in the fashion industry. Today, we want to highlight one specific initiative that is very dear to our heart since we have been a founding member in 2017. The initiative is called Fashion for Good. Together with 23 renowned brand partners we invest in innovative solutions and research projects aiming to create good fashion practice. 🟢We are moving beyond individual pilots and are driving change together Fashion for Good is a platform for innovation that unites the fashion ecosystem. It is the place where innovators and start-ups meet known fashion brands. Together we build knowledge, we experiment, we test and learn, we scale new ideas. Our goal: Bring powerful innovations to market (faster) and drive change towards a more regenerative and sustainable industry. 🟢 We are making a lasting impact together Earlier this week we shared a post about the Cradle-to-Cradle certified© products at C&A – this initiative was born together with Fashion for Good in 2017. And this year we have launched a pilot of home-compostable polybags made of bio-based material and tested the potential of automated sorting technologies for re-wearable garments in a research project. Also in 2025 we will keep testing new solutions together with the Fashion for Good partners. And you can expect to find some innovative materials in our upcoming Spring / Summer collection. We are excited to take you along on our journey. Stay tuned! #ForwardThinkingAndActing #LookGood #FeelGood #DoGood

The discussion on tackling fashion's overproduction and overconsumption. At Earthfest, our Founder Elizabeth A. highlighted how technology like Galore's Digital Passport can increase transparency and drive real, sustainable change. We are curious to hear your thoughts on using data to transform the industry. #sustainablilty #blockchaintech

My closing remark at Earthfest on the topic of “Overproduction and Overconsumption of Fashion'' - where I shared the stage with three inspiring and knowledgeable women. The theme centred around the disturbing trends of overconsumption and overproduction in the fashion industry. It's a conversation we need to have as the relentless pursuit of “more, more, more” is taking an immense toll on the planet. Fast fashion exemplifies this toxic cycle, with brands pumping out mountains of cheap, disposable garments to meet inflated demand, only for them to end up in landfills a few months later. Even luxury brands are not immune, often overproducing and destroying to protect their exclusivity and pricing power. Boutique deadstock piles up in warehouses, going to waste adding to the growing concerns of environmental impact. At galore. we believe technology can help transform the industry by increasing transparency and traceability. Our Digital Passport creates an auditable record for individual products - authenticity, ownership history, after care and most importantly educating and speaking to end-users. It's a way for heritage fashion houses to confidently embrace circular models like resale while retaining control and IP-ownership. After my talk, I drove-in deeper about collaborating with policymakers, lobbyists, and institutions like King's College to bolster and support the EU legislation on digital product passports, the importance of reliable data and knowledge. It was an engaging discussion. Funnily enough, as I was walking near King's Cross station afterwards, I was stopped by someone from the Islington Climate Centre who handed me their 'whataboutism' pamphlet – It was nice to be raising awareness and also be given information to further understand the situation and how we can drive real change. Anyways, what did you make of the topics covered? I'm keen to hear your thoughts on how companies like ours can use technology to drive a positive change.
