>>I'm delighted to learn that EMPOWER 2024, the Annual Assistive Technology (AT) Conference happening at the NISH Campus at Trivandrum has kicked off well. This important conference is happening for the first time in Kerala, and it is important that the GOK supports the decisions taken at the conference through strong action on conference recommendations and proposals. >>KMTC have chosen to support this conference as AT is particularly suited to Kerala as an area of focus, given the fact that Kerala is already a manufacturing hub of modern medical devices in India. Given the extensive and effective public healthcare delivery system, and the growing private healthcare sector, it nis natural that Kerala should take the lead. >>While entrepreneurs and companies are willing to come forward to manufacture AT products, it is necessary that the market for such products is ensured through enabling legislation and rules that mandate the provision of services and facilities form differently abled people. This requires changes in statutes and rules, ranging from the building codes, road construction rules, design of hospitals and healthcare facilities, public transportation rules, and so on. The Dept of Social Welfare, The Dept of Health, the Dept of Industries, and others too need to do their part if the environment in the state is to become more enabling for the differently abled. >>I hope EMPOWER 2024 will become the trigger for such changes to happen. 🌟 Celebrating Navratri: A Time for Reflection and Growth 🌟 As we enter the vibrant festival of Navratri, a time dedicated to honoring the divine feminine and the power of transformation, I find myself reflecting on the parallels between this celebration and the world of healthcare simulation. Just as Navratri is a journey of nine nights filled with devotion, learning, and growth, healthcare simulation allows us to embark on a transformative journey toward excellence in patient care. Here are a few connections I see between the two: 1. Empowerment through Knowledge: Navratri emphasizes the importance of knowledge and wisdom, much like how simulation training empowers healthcare professionals. By providing a safe environment to learn, practice, and refine skills, we can empower our teams to face real-world challenges with confidence. 2. Collaboration: The festival brings people together in celebration and worship, reminding us of the importance of teamwork in healthcare. Simulation fosters collaboration among interdisciplinary teams, enhancing communication and mutual trust that are key ingredients for successful patient outcomes. 3. Adapting to Change: Just as the nine nights of Navratri symbolize different forms of the goddess Durga, who embodies resilience and adaptability, healthcare simulation prepares us to adapt to the ever-evolving landscape of medicine and ensuring that quality patient care is being delivered. 4. Continuous Improvement: The spirit of Navratri is about renewal and self-improvement, and in healthcare, simulation is a vital tool for continuous learning. By embracing feedback from each simulation experience, we can cultivate a culture of excellence and innovation in our practices. As we celebrate Navratri, let’s honor the commitment to growth, collaboration, and empowerment this festival inspire. Wishing everyone a joyful and transformative Navratri! 🙏✨ #Navratri #HealthcareSimulation #ContinuousImprovement #Teamwork #Empowerment #PatientCare SCHS Symbiosis Centre for Health Skills Symbiosis International (Deemed University)
