Earlier this year, Marshall+Sterling relaunched our corporate branding to present a bolder and more contemporary image that reflects our company’s focus: securing our clients’ success. The most prominent change in our new branding appears in our logo where we removed an ampersand that connected the surnames of our founders, and we replaced it with a plus sign. That plus sign represents the added value Marshall+Sterling clients receive when they do business with us, and our focus on our clients’ needs. While our name remains the same, “Marshall [and] Sterling”, the plus sign encapsulates our commitment to go above and beyond to protect our clients’ interest, maximizing the success of their businesses, and adding value as a trusted partner. Whether that value manifests through our people, our digital and online resources, or our strategic approach to understanding our clients, their goals and challenges, Marshall+Sterling adds more to the solutions our customers are looking for. The power of a simple symbol is immeasurable. Like Eric points out in his post earlier today, we have replaced the ampersand in our logo with a plus symbol. We did so because it symbolizes that while we are proud of our founders and the 160 years of service and experience their names represent, we have so much more to bring to the table for our clients and prospects. That plus symbol represents the expertise and care our 550+ employee owners bring to their roles every day -- what we refer to internally as "the plus factor." The North Star Effective branding can work like a guiding light above you. This was something that a client recently said, that the work we did building the identity for her Glamping enterprise was a “North Star”. She felt that doing the work with me to define the brand now allows her to: - Know the direction to take the business. - Have the ethos and approach set out and defined for the next steps in front of her. - Act in confidence on how to express what she is trying to do. - Scale the business and get everyone on board quickly with what the enterprise is trying to achieve and how. As well as visual design, we worked on who it was she was trying to reach, the values and principals behind the business, personality and positioning.
