𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿: 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗜
Last month I had the chance to sit down and unravel the makings of, and man behind, ZILO™ - the UK-based FinTech specialising in Global Asset and Wealth management software, who landed £25 million Series A funding round this year.
It's tricky to highlight particular individuals I meet in my role, as the true entrepreneur and founders world is full of people who are humbled by their journeys that is making their dreams and ideas come to life - while making a living from it. While making a living for others. Quite frankly, they have all been fantastic people to converse with - as generic as that sounds. Without these risk takers, dreamers, whatever you want to call them outside of 'founders', we wouldn't have the diversification or innovation in sectors that we do. Thank you, all of you.
Having said that, Philip Goffin has to be one of the most down to earth and emotionally honest guests I have had the pleasure of speaking with. As a young(ish) female, interviewing experts in their fields much further along in their careers can at times be, quite frankly, a bit intimidating (masked with confidence, armed with research, and practiced interview skills).
Aside from the makings of ZILO, Phil was refreshingly honest and open about some really personal experiences: ADHD and how he's adapted and channeled this into his success, childhood experiences of bullying and how it's altered his empathy and communication for the better, understanding of sexism experienced by females in the workplace, and how we protect culture and workforce from these things, whilst still embracing face-to-face human collaboration.
The point is, Phil spoke about topics that lots of people feel uncomfortable or afraid to talk out about, and without this, no societal issues will ever change.
I think we all need to be a bit more 'Phil'...
