For example: A Black man with autism may face challenges related to both race and neurodivergence. A Black woman may have a different experience in the workplace than a white man. What else? Those who follow me and are familiar with my work, know I emphasize inclusion over diversity. Not because one is more important, but simply because diversity is a fact that doesn't need to be proven or debated—it just *is*. 🔸Diversity reflects all the characteristics that make each person unique, both demographically and cognitively. 🔸The real challenge lies in the implementation of *inclusion*—ensuring that equal rights and opportunities are extended to all. In other words, equity is what's truly at stake. 🔸Let's not forget that representation is also critical in showing what’s possible for everyone. It’s time for companies and employers to recognize that the workforce will be majority non-white and women by 2030. This is a huge step in the right direction. You may come across a boss who genuinely believes eurocentric work practices and beauty standards are the norm. Well, it’s time to wake up. I work at a Black female run public relations and crisis communications firm based in Houston. The employees are predominantly BIPOC. The place where I work is ahead of its time. Soon that will be the standard in the workplace. So, what do we do for now? -Spread awareness about the increase in BIPOC in the workplace. -Recognize and understand the importance of this cultural shift. -Keep talking despite pushback or judgment. -Remain open to learning from others even if you are well educated or in academia. -Don’t feel obligated to educate white people at work in your professional or personal life. -Your role as a BIPOC professional is not to explain things to white employers and colleagues. -We are not here to educate you. #blacklinkedin #work #careers #employers #companies #colleagues #workforce #workplace #diversity #representation #bipoc #poc #blackpeople #blackwomen #blackexcellence #blackgirlmagic
