Pushy sales is a strict no-no. Pushy marketing is an EVEN BIGGER no-no! Pushy marketing is a very aggressive form of promoting a product through various communication mediums. Why do brands do it? Because they aren't sure about their current strategy (hence spray and pray), or They want to achieve a very high revenue/conversion rate in the shortest time (spray and pray, again!). This tactic can be very annoying to users though, causing them to report/block/mark as spam, any such communication. Pushy marketing typically takes the form of 1) Flooding users with too many emails and calls 2) Sending multiple messages to users who are yet to interact with the brand 3) Interrupting the user with pop-ups as they scroll past your website/app 4) Sending multiple reminders and automated messages beyond necessity 5) Running retargeting ads with improbable claims to get more inquiries/sales Constant and over-aggressive marketing tactics can lead to 1) A negative perception of your brand among the receivers 2) Bad (Really bad!) word of mouth in the market and on social media 3) Loss of sanctity of your marketing channels (Email, SMS, WhatsApp) with more people reporting/blocking them 4) Relatively shorter product life cycles 5) Flat or declining sales growth in the future Contrary to popular perception, such tactics alienate people instead of making them aware or interested. The better option is to engage & provide value, respect user preferences, and not go too far just to meet targets. But what do you feel? How should marketers maintain a balance?
