Why am I at COP29? A few days ago I thought ‘why bother?’ It’s exhausting, frustrating, high carbon and pretty low expectation this year. BUT, within 5 mins here I remember. I’m here because the world is here. On the cop bus I met a woman leading communications for COP30 in Brazil and we’re now plotting how to engage thousands of Brazilian social media creators. Queuing for food a Thai woman asked me about Great British Energy and if i thought its replicable. A Kenyan woman complimented my necklace with a smile. Being here is a reminder that my bubble is MUCH BIGGER than I worried last week. And I will use every waking moment here to expand it and push for bigger impact. #cop29baku #womenleadingonclimate
I need that necklace. Really looking forward to COP and hoping to meet you. I write this on the plane from Australia, wondering why on earth I’m making the pilgrimage to COP but you remind me why it’s worth it. Now I’m getting excited!
So true - our voice is more important than ever to keep climate policy on the global agenda. 💪
I’m so glad you’re there too Soli 🥰
I'm so excited for COP30 in Brazil !
So true! See you in Baku!
And because you’re a GREAT LEADER… and can both model the way for others while enabling us all to act! And you need context to do that. Leadership is crucial because it inspires vision, fosters collaboration, drives change, influences culture, empowers individuals, and guides organizations toward achieving their goals and potential. #protectwhatyoulove ✨ #sustainability #leadership - you’re community ‘back home’ can’t wait to hear what you’ve learned and put it into action.
And also because, as Linked In confirms today, "Climate-related extreme weather events cost the global economy over $2 trillion over the past decade — a figure similar to the 2008 global financial crisis, according to a new report from the International Chamber of Commerce."
Well said. I’m not there in person but my team. will be looking out for your posts - keep up the work
Exactly right. Thank you for being there to make those global connections.
