In our 48th webinar, held on October 17 with the participation of speakers from Deloitte, we analysed how the reductions in #battery costs and their #hybridisation with #renewable energies will be fundamental to increase the profitability of renewable energy projects. In the webinar, an #IRR analysis of batteries in different price spread scenarios was presented, which indicate that batteries, especially in hybrid systems, are starting to become profitable. This opens the door for the next five‑year period to be marked by battery development. https://lnkd.in/gD7Y9zwz

Opportunities in the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Market in Europe The transition towards renewable energy in Europe is driving significant demand for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Here are the key points: Growth of Renewable Energy: Europe is integrating renewable energy sources into its grids to achieve its net zero emissions targets. The EU aims for 42.5% of its energy to come from renewables by 2030. Operational Challenges: The reliance on renewable sources like wind and solar introduces variability, necessitating the use of BESS to ensure a consistent power supply. Utility-Scale Applications: BESS are employed for fast reserve, deferral, re-dispatch, frequency regulation, voltage control, and black start, providing stability and flexibility to the grid. Behind the Meter (BtM) BESS: BtM BESS allow electricity generators and consumers greater control over their energy usage, integrating Virtual Power Plants (VPP) and Distributed Energy Resources (DER). Grid Integration: BESS act as a buffer between generation and consumption, aiding in managing instant supply and reducing costly grid developments. Market Opportunities: As BESS technologies advance and costs decrease, new market opportunities arise. Early engagement in the BESS market can result in attractive business prospects despite the challenges. Evolutionary Path: The BESS market evolves from an early stage with limited infrastructure and regulations to a mature stage with efficient products and established regulatory frameworks. At MegasPower, we specialize in BESS solutions. We have a robust capacity to accelerate the implementation through financing BESS solutions and we customize large-scale batteries for different applications. Integrating BESS in Europe is essential not only for stabilizing the grid amidst the variability of renewable energy but also for opening up crucial investment and technological development opportunities to achieve the region’s energy goals. It is vital for companies and investors to engage in this evolution to ensure a sustainable and efficient energy future. #RenewableEnergy #EnergyStorage #BESS #Sustainability #Innovation #MegasPowee

To the best of my knowledge, this is a first: an energy storage system co-located with a offshore wind park. Solar parks with extra energy storage devices are becoming very popular in areas with a lot of sun and high solar energy penetration (California, Australia). These energy storage devices (usually big batteries) help mitigate the intermittency of renewable energy (solar, wind) and offset energy from times of peak production and low demand to times of peak demand and low production. It also provides an extra source of revenue for energy producers: they can store energy when prices are low and sell it when prices are high (a sort of energy 'arbitrage'). #energystorage #energytransition #energiewende #renewableenergy #solarenergy #windenergy #sgre #siemens #siemensgamesa #siemensenergy #orsted https://lnkd.in/eqf2GChP
