The EU solar sector issues a yellow card as sector growth slows dramatically.🟨 After several years of record-breaking market growth, the latest edition of our EU Market Outlook for Solar Power warns that 2024 brings only 4% annual growth to the EU solar market. 📉 While the EU installed 66 GW of solar in 2024, this merely inches past 2023’s record of 63 GW, at a time when we cannot afford to slow down. “Europe needs to be installing around 70 GW solar PV annually to hit its 2030 targets – we need to consider corrective action now, before it’s too late,” says Walburga Hemetsberger, CEO SolarPower Europe. 1wWhat should have happened? Is that when you were expanding solar / wind power you should’ve expanded the grid. We are adding solar fields here that we can’t even connect. People put the cart in front of the horse. Its a horrible case where nobody was thinking and asking the wrong questions. How do we build an affordable and a sustainable energy system.. you forgot affordable and system and are only looking at solar.. the balance is completely gone.
