Many people have alerted me to this ongoing scam and I want to make sure everyone is aware of it. 🚨 Tips to Stay Safe: • Verify Credentials: Always check the credentials of the individuals you're interacting with. • Spot Suspicious Activities: Be on the lookout for any unusual activities in profiles, such as vague job descriptions or lack of professional endorsements. 📢 Common Red Flags 🚩: • Profiles of foreign nationals with questionable agendas. • Users trying to build a background to gain trust deceptively. Beware job seekers! Scammers are posing as professional recruiters to deceive you. Losing a job is already a tough situation to handle, and falling prey to a fraudulent recruiter would only make things worse. Today, I was almost scammed by someone claiming to be a recruiter, but upon further review of her profile, I noticed recruiter was from Nigeria, and her profile picture had watermarks from a stock image provider. A quick reverse image search helped me confirm. I was so distracted with today's events that I almost missed it. Stay alert and protect yourself from scammers. #jobsearch #recruitment #scamalert

Be very careful when approached about a job. Make sure you do your thorough research of the organization or the company. search for their contact information and double-check if it is the same. Never let the recruiter give you the connection to someone who can help with documentation fast. Always make sure you do it physically on yourself. Never pay for any vacancies. No genuine jobs require you to pay. If it's too late for you and you have already been scammed, don't be afraid to speak up and educate others on what to do and not to do. Genuine people: 1 - fake scam profiles: 0 Thanks LinkedIn for rolling out ID verification in the UK and other European countries. There's been so many fake jobs and various other scams taking place on LinkedIn for too long. Its erroded trust in the community. People have been unsure whether job opportunities are genuine or not. Verifying your profile: ➡️ establishes authenticity ➡️ prevents impersonation ➡️ enhances credibility ➡️ improves profile visibility (a big plus for job seekers) Would you like to verify your profile and show you're a real person? Check your profile page next to your name for an icon prompting you to verify your identity. It takes two minutes using a third party ID checker (Persona in my case). You'll need your passport or government issued ID. Let me know whether you have the option or not. It will be interesting to see where it's now available. I know it's been in the US for some time and employees of certain companies have the option of verifying via work email.
