A new Kaggle competition has been launched this week, the annual March Machine Learning Mania competition: https://lnkd.in/eyiGQtiv The task is to predict the outcome of this years college basketball tournaments, in America. I will definitely be joining this one, but I don't expect to be anywhere near winning the $10,000 for first place (or any prizes!). But since I know absolutely nothing about basketball, this is an excellent opportunity to see what the data itself can show through analysis and then try to build models based on that, without any biases. Of course, some domain knowledge is always a benefit, so I am sure I will have to research the teams and players, but I don't think I will be sitting down to watch any games! #kaggle #machinelearning #eda

Excited to share my latest project - a Tennis Analysis system that uses machine learning and computer vision to analyze tennis players in a video! 🎾💻 In this project, I utilized YOLO (You Only Look Once) v8 for player detection, fine-tuned YOLO for tennis ball detection, and extracted court keypoints using a trained YOLOV5 model and a tennis court key point model. With this system, we can measure a player's speed, ball shot speed, and number of shots - providing valuable insights for coaches, players, and enthusiasts alike. Using Machine Learning in Basketball 🏀 As machine learning techniques become more commonplace in investigating performance, technical, and tactical data, it is important to understand a fundamental concept: Assessing for Multicollinearity. Machine Learning in Basketball 🏀 When I first started exploring machine learning; I realized much of research into sport portrays a black box 🗃️approach; where data is input…something happens…and data is output. The difficult thing about black box approaches is not being able to edit and understand what variables weigh more than others. One question I explored was ‘fatigue’ in our basketball players. However, my approach was multi-factorial and algorithmic so equations could be tested, trained, and executed.
