Announcement for Wine Lovers and Wine Professionals! 🍷 Next Saturday, I will have the honour to be the host at the WineAnd International Semi-Blind Tasting (#WIT24 https://wine-and.com/) at WOW Porto, alongside with the talented International Master on Wine Tourism Transitions and Innovations - WINTOUR Alumni, Thiago Coelli It’s a true pleasure to run this event with someone so passionate about wine like him! Here is a hint of what a semi-blind tasting is about: What is Semi-Blind Tasting? In a semi-blind tasting, we retain the excitement and educational aspects of blind tasting, but with a unique twist. Participants know the wines included in the tasting, but the order in which they’re served remains a mystery. Each wine will be covered, so while you're aware of the selection, you won’t know exactly which one you’re tasting at any given moment. Benefits of Semi-Blind Tasting This fun and interactive method enhances your sensory skills and deepens your appreciation of different wines. It's not just about tasting; it adds a competitive edge that challenges your preconceptions and helps to refine your palate. Participating in a semi-blind tasting allows you to: - Enhance Flavor Recognition: Improve your ability to detect and recognize various flavors, aromas, and textures. - Engage Socially: Share your experiences and insights with fellow wine enthusiasts, making it a wonderful social event. - Broaden Your Palate: Discover new experiences and wines you might not have considered otherwise. - Challenge Preconceptions: Focus on the wine itself rather than its packaging or branding, leading to a more honest tasting experience. Login to https://wine-and.com/ and start scaning labels as well as deepen your knowledge in wine while enjoying your evenings filled with discovery, conversation, and, of course, fantastic wines! Don’t miss this opportunity to elevate your tasting skills and connect with fellow wine lovers. Looking forward to meet you at the https://wine-and.com/! 🍇✨ #WineAnd #WineTasting #WineExperience #SemiBlindTasting #WOWPorto #Networking #WineEducation https://lnkd.in/dGaWwNeP

🍇🏆 Wine Lovers and Industry Insiders - Take note! 🌍🍷 Our latest data visualization takes you on a global tour of wine competitions, revealing where the most prestigious medals are awarded. Information about the awarded wines was taken from more than 250 of the largest Wine Competitions out of at least 600 held in the world every year. Priority was given to international competitions, while the results of national competitions were processed with lower priority. You can find the list of all wine competitions taken into the study here. Wine competitions exhibit considerable variation in the number of samples submitted and medals awarded. Following the guidelines set by the OIV - International Organisation of Vine and Wine, most competitions adhere to the recommendation that only 30% of submitted samples receive medals. Since 2020, over 431,090 medals have been awarded globally, with a significant concentration in Europe. Just got out of a Zoom with organizers of The 1976 Redo (https://www.the76redo.com). First, attn vintners: Although deadline for wine submissions is officially tomorrow (06/21), you'll still be able to submit anytime before the first round of judging in mid-July. Second, if you're still wondering why this is being done: Keep in mind that the original 1976 Paris Tasting occurred when, frankly, Californians barely knew a bunghole from bâtonnage The industry has come a long way since. Many vintners have long stopped mindlessly imitating European models, despite increased appreciation. There's heightened awareness of appellations and terroirs, not to mention exponential skill level, experience and technology, although production of good and interesting wine (like any product) is a forever-and-ever process everywhere in the world. Plus, The 1976 Redo is meant to highlight all American wines (not just Californian). Stay tuned, should be interesting. Also re https://lnkd.in/gDRv7r4T

Excellent and Free Course on the Wines of the Rhone Valley offered by Napa Valley Wine Academy in conjunction with Inter-Rhone. Intermediate level done in 4 parts that does nice coverage of Cotes du Rhone AOC, CDR Named Villages, the Crus of the CDR and Other AOC's of the Rhone Valley. You are awarded a Certificate upon successful pass of the final exam at three stages. Good news is that you have unlimited attempts. Lots of info is covered, so its good that they broke it down into 4 sections. Great way to learn about this important region and a fantastic review even if you think you know it. Do you know how many CDR Villages are allowed to append their names? How many Crus North and South in the CDR? The difference between Cotes du Rhone and the Rhone Valley? What types of wines are produced in each Cru or each of the Villages with DGC? If not, you will benefit from doing this course. Hop on the NVWA website https://lnkd.in/gmiG8gkV and check it out. Membership gives you access to even more study tool, video education, webinars, WSET helps and mock exams and a free Certification course of your choice for Napa Valley, Oregon, Argentina or American Wine.

This was my second year at the Austin Food & Wine Festival and it’s always incredible to see the community come together to celebrate our city’s amazing food scene. Austin is mecca for foodies, and our chefs are getting the recognition they deserve with our very own Michelin Guide arriving later this month. But as our food culture grows we’re seeing real challenges in the retail market with demand still far outpacing supply. For example, a few 2nd generation restaurant spaces came available recently around South 1st and South Lamar and they were essentially leased overnight around double the rent of the previous tenant. As we continue to attract and cultivate top culinary talent, it’s crucial to consider how we can develop more viable retail spaces throughout the city. #AustinFoodScene #CommercialRealEstate #RestaurantIndustry #RetailRealEstate #AustinEats #MichelinGuide #CulinaryCulture #RealEstateTrends #HospitalityIndustry #RestaurantGrowth
