Of course the tech is important but there is always a very human frontline. Media literacy as a concept is critical. Critical thinking and understanding your own mind non-negotiable. Not necessarily as a fixed path but to filter influences. Whether that’s for a child or a seasoned executive, as our physical and digital worlds merge so our ability to discern needs to evolve. It’s fascinating to migrate between the Trust & Safety Forum and the other events here at #incyber Lille

🌐 Deterrence and Accountability in Cyberspace 🌐 As digital threats become increasingly prevalent, states are adapting their strategies for accountability and deterrence in cyberspace. To effectively prevent malicious behaviour, we must embrace a multifaceted approach that combines three primary methods: 1️⃣ 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Establish clear norms and frameworks that define responsible behaviour in cyberspace. 2️⃣ 𝐏𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐛𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫: Articulate clear response mechanisms to potential adversaries. If actors understand the costs associated with launching specific types of cyberattacks, they may be more likely to reconsider their actions. 3️⃣ 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐲 𝐛𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫: Pursue an active defensive approach focused on denying malicious activity before it even has the chance to arise. Deep, deeper, dark – plumbing the depths of the web to uncover Middle East cyberthreats. 🌐 The surface web represents everything accessible to any of us via a standard browser - Google, Facebook, Instagram etc. But beneath lurks the dark web, where most threat actors operate. Running below the surface is the deep web. Here you can find private chats, hidden messengers and channels. Finally, at the deepest level lies the true dark web – packed with fully private resources that commonly require additional checks and verifications to access. 👨💻 At Kaspersky, we have the extensive reach and expertise to monitor all 3 layers of cybercriminals resources and communities. Our Digital Footprint Intelligence team examines cybercriminal forums, telegram channels, ransomware group blogs, shadow marketplaces and other hidden resources used by cybercriminals. Check out our latest webinar revealing information trawled from the dark web on threat actors’ activities and cyberthreats to the Middle East during the first half of 2024. ➡ bit.ly/41mhyga #kaspersky #research #themiddleeast #darkweb
