Extended thanks goes out to our Social Entrepreneurship Enclave (SEE) community for an amazing evening of networking & holiday shopping in support of #WillowPress 🎊 From connecting with familiar faces, meeting new ones interested in SEE, plus finding holiday gifts across the store, SEE & Be Seen brought much needed business for store owner Meghan Malcolm Willow's brave decision to pivot and reimagine their future once they close their Osborne St storefront is the kind of courageous decision-making we often discuss in SEE programming. If you’re in the Winnipeg area, SEE encourages you to shop & support Willow Press in-store or online at https://lnkd.in/gBPRAPfU so they can continue: : • Selling inclusive books created by queer authors • Hosting queer events & intersectional, sex-positive programming for 2SLGBTQ+ Manitobans • Acting as community safe space for 2SLGBTQ+ Manitobans since 2021 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️

This is not #PrideMonth but it's worth sharing the stats from the "State of LGBTQ+ Entrepreneurship Report". The key fact that stood out for me is that despite representing 7.1% of the population, LGBTQIA+ founders have only raised 0.5% of the $2.1T in US startup funding. LGBTQIA+ founders created 36% more jobs, 114% more patents, and 44% more exits, despite raising 16% less funding compared to the average founder. Thanks for sharing the report Rosalind Bazany and for the #nudge that Antler continues tapping into the full spectrum of diverse talent. October 11 is National Coming Out Day, and the Indo-Caribbean Canadian Association is proud to share our “A Coming Out Guide for Canada’s Indo-Caribbean Community.” This guide is now available on our website: indocaribcdn.com/epic. “Coming out” is a personal choice. Each person has their own unique way of doing it, when they do it, and who they tell. There is no right way to “come out”, nor is it necessary to do so. Our guide is meant to provide advice and direction to resources that may assist an individual while on their journey. Further, this guide includes resources for individuals who are looking to support a love who is in the process of or already “coming out.” Although this can be a liberating time for some, for other Indo-Caribbean LGBTQ2S+ people, “coming out” can foster fears of isolation, harassment, bullying, and discrimination from the ones who should love them most. In some circumstances, “coming out” can lead to homelessness and violence. We hope that on National Coming Out Day, this new guide will inspire us to combat homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia, and build bridges of love and acceptance for everyone.

Have you had trouble accessing capital? The SCALE program may be able to help! This new network includes capital providers and community organizations specialized in getting the word out to people who are too used to hearing “No” when they talk to lenders or investors. Collectively, this federal funding is an opportunity for California to more effectively break down those barriers to capital. It’s an opportunity to change the mindset of the financial industry so we worry less about the risk scorecard of any given deal and more about opportunity cost, the opportunity lost when we fail to unlock the human and economic potential of everyone. It’s an opportunity to think less of the 3 C’s and little more FOMO when it comes to BIPOC-owed businesses. It’s an opportunity for California’s small business-owners to SCALE and contribute even more than they already do to the California economy...and the California Dream. - Director Tara Lynn Gray

Here's what cosplaying taught me about B2B Sales. 😎 😉 A lot of people will come up to you asking about your appearance! Use that opportunity to SELL. 💰 Whenever someone asks for a photo of you, be sure to CHARGE them after the fact to make a profit. After all, time is money. 👀 And most importantly, take up a Chunk of Times Square doing TikTok dances for thousands of free impressions. That form of marketing is invaluable. Be sure to check out Ken Cheng for more awesome LinkedIn tips and tricks!!! 🔥 #GameIndustry #GameDevelopment #B2BSales #Marketing #Resource #Advice #Video #EntryLevel #Business #Community #Network #OpenToNetwork #Art #LGBTQ+ #Tech #Indie #Support

Why should we support local diverse-owned businesses? Our CEO Matt Dabrowski gets to answer this question A LOT as a speaker and someone who represents the largest LGBTQ+ business community in the UK! "It honestly baffles me when I speak to politicians, corporations, and even small business owners and they just don't get the big picture. The simple truth is that it's about economic empowerment. When you go to buy, well anything, and you do it through a small business - your favorite restaurant, pub, letting agency, shop, etc... you are making a difference in how that gets back to you. These businesses generate £2.1 TRILLION in the UK which means more JOBS, more TAXES, and more choices!!!" OutBritain's new Employee Community HUB is all about bringing it back to reality!!! Why should major corporations and other businesses buy from local diverse suppliers? Just because you work for a company that has inclusive DEI policies doesn't mean they buy their T-shirts for Pride month from a local diverse business. We want to educate and empower businesses and explain how community wealth-building is essential to creating opportunity, decreasing unemployment, and improving lives for grassroots communities. That just cannot happen without supporting local businesses.
