About the forum The Eastern Economic Forum is one of the largest international conferences in Russia. It has been held on the Russky Island in Vladivostok since 2015. The Forum is organized at the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who decreed that the event be held annually. And this has been the case, except in 2020, when the forum was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So far, Putin has attended all editions of the EEF. As a rule, the president’s speech at EEF lasts about half an hour and is devoted to Far Eastern development issues. The subsequent discussion at the plenary session, however, normally goes beyond the subject of the Far East. This year’s Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) will be held on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok on September 3-6, 2024. The main theme of the EEF in 2024 is "Far East 2030. Combining strengths to create new potential." EEF 2024 business activities are broken down into seven thematic blocks: "New contours of international cooperation," "Technologies to ensure independence," "Financial system of values," "the Russian Far East," "People, education and patriotism," "Transport and logistics: new routes," and "Master plans: from architecture to economy." The event is organized by the Roscongress foundation. The title partners for this year’s forum are VEB.RF and Bamtonnelstroy-Most. Sponsoring the event are general partners VTB, Gazprom, RusHydro, Delo Group and Natsstroiproject holding. Rosseti is the strategic partner. Aeroflot will be the event’s official air carrier. TASS is the general information partner of the EEF. (Part Two, The End) #business #finance #financialservices

Expert says Power of Siberia-2 talks complex, project may be launched outside Mongolia "It is obviously possible to pave the route through Russia as well," Alexey Maslov noted VLADIVOSTOK, September 3/ The talks with Ulaanbaatar on the future of the Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline are complex, the director of the Institute of Asian and African Studies at the Lomonosov Moscow State University Alexey Maslov told TASS on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), adding that Russia could launch the project on its territory bypassing Mongolia if necessary. "The Power of Siberia-2 is a gas pipeline being designed that is to run through the territory of Western Siberia to China. Some media outlets reported in August that Mongolia had allegedly not included the project in its national development plan through 2028. "Third countries are putting much pressure on Mongolia today. We obviously see the influence of the US. Moreover, Mongolia is trying to increase its cost as a transit territory and to bargain, which is normal from the viewpoint of the negotiation process. However, it is important to bear in mind that it is hardly going to be an easy decision," he said. In this context Maslov expressed confidence that if Mongolia fails to take a decision "a direct route outside the country will most likely be chosen." "It is obviously possible to pave the route through Russia as well," he said, adding that "theoretically a project currently called the Power of Siberia-3 is possible." The Eastern Economic Forum is underway on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok on September 3-6, 2024. The main theme of the EEF this year is ‘Far East 2030. Combining strengths to create new potential’. Business activities are broken down into seven thematic blocks: ‘New contours of international cooperation’, ‘Technologies to ensure independence’, ‘Financial value system’, ‘the Russian Far East’, ‘People, education and patriotism’, ‘Transport and logistics: new routes’, and ‘Master plans: from architecture to economy’. The IX Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok saw 7,000 participants from 75 countries attend, with 258 agreements signed for a record amount of over 5.39 trillion rubles. This annual event serves as a significant platform for fostering international cooperation and investment in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly focusing on Russia's Far East and Arctic territories. The forum broke all records with 7000 participants, and major developed countries traditionally come to the forum to determine the direction of the Asia-Pacific region. To date, 258 agreements worth a record RUB 5.4 trillion have been signed during the EEF, including the creation of a chemical complex in Komi, the involvement of scientific and engineering teams within the Russky ISTC, and the construction of a timber processing complex in the Sakhalin Region. The governments of Yakutia and the Khabarovsk Territory signed a tripartite agreement with Port Elga LLC on the construction of a section of the Pacific Railway (TZD) with a length of about 626 km. The most important outcome of the EEF is the decisions made by Russian President Vladimir Putin during sessions on the development and promotion of tourism, master plans implementation, administrative pressure reduction, logistics, financing investment projects, and science and technology development. The forum also approved new goals of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic to attract investment. The EEF aims to strengthen ties within the Russian and global investment communities and is seen as a crucial venue for exploring new opportunities and partnerships in the rapidly evolving Asia-Pacific landscape.

Lavrov downplays significance of EU conferences on Ukraine in Paris It is reported that not more than 20 or 30 billion US dollars have been allocated for these purposes since then, while the sums going to Kiev are much bigger Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called not to attach too much significance to EU conferences on Ukraine in Paris. "The number of Western conferences is obviously growing. They are trying to offset the decreasing interest and dramatic drop in financial capabilities to maintain the Zelensky regime. The French and President [of France Emmanuel] Macron are overly enthusiastic about convening all sorts of events, caring little about their potential outcome. I would not attach too much significance to the conferences organized in Paris," he told a news conference, commenting on a European conference on Ukraine that was held in Paris on February 26. Thus, he recalled that such events have never yielded any concrete results. As an example, he cited the Climate Change Conference in Paris in 2015, when Western countries promised to allocate some 100 billion US dollars a year to developing countries to ensure their energy transition within ten years. However, according to Lavrov, not more than 20 or 30 billion US dollars have been allocated for these purposes since then, while the sums going to Kiev are much bigger. Macron said after a meeting in the Elysee Palace on February 26 that the participants had looked at sending ground troops to Ukraine. Although no consensus was reached on this topic, he did not rule out such a scenario in the future. The Paris conference on Ukraine was attended by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Polish President Andrzej Duda and prime ministers from around 20 EU countries. The United States was represented by US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien, and David Cameron represented the United Kingdom. #business #finance #financialservices

Russian minister calls to replicate globalist supranational technocratic European Union (EU) in Eurasia as Eurasian Union (EU). "Let's start from the very beginning: what is the Eurasian Economic Union? What is the point of this organization? As an organization, the EAEU was created for the economic integration of the post-Soviet space through the implementation of four freedoms - freedom of movement of goods, services, capital and labor. That is, we are primarily talking about creating common markets and barrier-free access to the market of any EAEU member state. In the modern world - whether we want it or not - not a single national state can do without international contacts, without intensive interaction with others. This applies to all countries - both large and small. This is simply the key to survival. Therefore, the question is not whether to integrate or not, but only with whom to integrate and on what basis. If we look at the whole world, we will notice that all regions are uniting economically - the United States is interacting more and more closely with Mexico, Canada and the Asia-Pacific region. The European Union has united all European countries and is trying to continue moving to the East. China is creating its own integration zone along the One Road - One Belt project. Africa unites. Everyone understands that no one can survive alone." https://lnkd.in/e8VApUMc
