What is the definition of #ultraprocessed? Has that been clearly defined? Most products undergo some degree of processing. Even #consumers do #processing when cooking the food. To discuss impacts of #ultraprocessed foods, we (scientists) need to agree on a definition and then review and rank data in the literature (ideally using the weight of evidence approach). Are we there yet?

The global processed and packaged food sector is seeing significant growth as consumer demand rises for convenience and ready-to-eat options. However, with this expansion comes a growing awareness of food quality and safety. Companies in this industry must prioritize product integrity to meet consumer expectations. Active packaging solutions play a critical role in preserving processed and packaged foods by: Maintaining Optimal Conditions: Ensures the freshness and safety of food from production to the consumer’s hands. Preserving Quality: Retains the flavor, texture, and nutritional value of processed food items. Preventing Contamination: Safeguards against external contaminants by creating environments that hinder microbial growth. Extending Shelf Life: Reduces spoilage and waste, helping companies minimize losses and ensure consistent product availability. By leveraging active packaging solutions, businesses can enhance the safety, quality, and longevity of processed foods in an increasingly competitive market. It’s one of the latest additions to our portfolio: the Steinecker bioreactor is a system solution developed for the field of alternative food processing. It makes it possible to manufacture new food products like alternative proteins for meat substitutes, and whey and egg proteins.🌱 The clou: The development team used Steinecker’s knowledge of and technology for fermenting beer, combined it with Krones’ aseptic expertise, and adapted it to accomplish the cell-based manufacturing of new food products. The bioreactor’s heart is a circulation system that has already given years of successful service in brewing applications. Now, Steinecker and the Swiss start-up Food Brewer signed a cooperation in order to exploit synergies for their R&D work and market entry plans. ➡️You want to know more? Then read this interview to learn everything about the potential of alternative food and how Krones, Steinecker and Food Brewer want to conquer the market: https://lnkd.in/dFBH3cU5 #KronesAG #ProcessTechnology #Brewing
