Another book which I am very excited about is "The Friction Project.” The authors (Robert I. Sutton & Huggy Rao) remind us that “there’s very strong evidence that when humans face problems, our default problem solving is addition—we tend to add more.” In organizations that means adding more headcount, more meetings and new initiatives, more software... The approach to solving this problem, the friction fixing, starts with the mindset that leaders of organizations see themselves as editor in chief, whose job it is to subtract unnecessary stuff or to make it difficult for people to add in the first place, share the authors. The book unpacks how skilled friction fixers think and act like trustees of others’ time and concludes with lessons for leading the reader’s own friction project, including linking little things to big things; the power of civility, caring, and love for propelling designs and repairs; and embracing the mess that is an inevitable part of the process (while still trying to clean it up).

Just like leaders should use every day interactions to coach those in their charge, teachers should integrate coaching into daily interactions with students. Teachers can foster student engagement during regular class activities, feedback sessions, and goal-setting. Instead of focusing solely on transmitting information, with active teaching methodologies, teachers can empower students by guiding them to reflect on their learning, set personal goals, and overcome barriers, promoting more supportive, growth-oriented environment. #Teaching #Coaching #Learning #ActiveMethodologies

Leaders need to be good coaches because effective coaching empowers their teams to reach their full potential. By guiding rather than directing, leaders foster an environment of growth, trust, and autonomy. Coaching helps individuals develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence, which ultimately enhances team performance and aligns efforts with organizational goals. Leaders who coach are also more likely to build stronger relationships with their teams, leading to higher engagement, motivation, and retention. #leadership #coaching
