EPA Announces Top Cities for ENERGY STAR Certified Buildings Denver Ranked 7! The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released its annual list of the top U.S. cities with the most ENERGY STAR certified buildings. Los Angeles (876 certified buildings) and Washington, D.C. (631) once again claimed the top two spots, but check out this year’s rankings to see where your city stands. EPA generates a Top 25 overall list, as well as Top 10 lists for mid-sized and small cities. Over 8,800 buildings earned the certification last year, totaling over 43,000 buildings since 1999.
