So, what should I be concerned about when it comes to gaming? The most often brought up issues are screen time, cyber bullying, and violence in video gaming. While each of these items are issues, there is a lot more nuance. I will dissect that for you to offer a more well-rounded perspective. Additionally, the video gaming industry is rapidly evolving, just like technology in general. What may have been popular even five or 10 years ago is no longer the case today. So first I will break down the four big topics of video game issue: Violence in video games, video game addiction, impact on school performance, and antisocial behavior in online gaming. Afterwards, I give an overview of where we as parents should have our radar on a much higher alert. And these are things called dark patterns, or now they're being called deceptive patterns. These are deliberately created experiences by game designers that benefit the game designer at the expense of the gamer, their enjoyment, and often their money. Dark patterns can be divided into four categories: temporal, monetary, social, and psychological. Follow me on Instagram @thestellarcounsellor

🌐 Geo-restrictions on games? A VPN could be the solution, offering access to global gaming content and improving connection stability. A VPN masks your IP, allowing you to experience games from different regions while enhancing your online security and gameplay quality. 🕹️ With a VPN, enjoy not just broader game access but also smoother, more reliable gameplay. This technology is crucial for reducing lags and ensuring uninterrupted gaming sessions, crucial for both casual and competitive players. 🛡️ Advanced security protocols of a VPN, such as WireGuard, protect your data, while features like split tunneling ensure your gaming connection remains fast and stable. A VPN is not just about accessing global content; it’s about optimizing and securing your gaming journey. #ProfessionalGaming #VPNUsage #GamingSecurity #TechInsight #GlobalGaming

Rina Onur Sirinoglu is a bad-ass leader in mobile games at Spyke Games. I was honored to moderate the panel with her at the Think Games Istanbul event last week. Here are few key takeaways for how to level up your UA capabilities in changing privacy landscape. ☑ Utilize all the new ad products (Google spoke to many at the summit) ☑ Invest in tech that allows you to port learning from - Android learnings to iOS - ATT opt-ins to opt-outs - unsupervised and semi-supervised ML research ☑ To optimize creatives, use Android to reduce the options before testing on iOS ☑ Run LOTS of tests ☑ Try to isolate the data to understand each media source's true performance I'll put a link to watch this session and others in the comments. We also recap the event on the latest episode of TWIG 🎧 Listen to this This Week in Games Podcast in the Deconstructor of Fun podcast feed. Check it out for all the big news in the game industry each week with fellow co-hosts Michail Katkoff, Eric Kress, Phillip Black, and Laura Taranto. Link in the comments 🎧
