Today, CHPW/CHNW CEO Leanne Berge contributed an article to Spokane’s The Spokesman-Review, highlighting why community-based organizations (CBOs) are critical in advancing health equity in Spokane and beyond. Through the lens of our partnerships with CBOs, like the diverse coalition of organizations represented in the recipients of the 2024 Advancing Equity Fund grants, Berge reinforced the importance of coming together to support community organizations that provide critical services for communities experiencing barriers to achieving their best health. "Building healthier communities takes all of us working together, aligning our efforts to address the full spectrum of social, medical, and behavioral drivers of health," wrote Berge. "Providing equitable access to health services - in the broadest sense - can only be achieved through our collective and collaborative efforts." Some days are good days. Then there are days like these… The days when #TheJoshieMan makes a deep personal connection with the leader on Equality for the European Union (representing 450m citizens). When visiting the United Nations in New York, #TJM made what we believe is a lifelong friendship with Helena Dali. We agreed on the need for a European Union wide focus to help make sure that assistive technology is made available for non-speaking people. We agreed to discuss the recently released report from Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) - the Neurodiversity Charity on how to make our cities #Neuroinclusive. And importantly, we agreed to meet again in Brussels, when the new UK government is in place to continue the EU-UK working group on #Neurodiversity. And so yes, today was a great day! ❤️ And I have a hunch that #TJM helped raise the profile of Neurodiversity on a world stage.💪 Who is with us? ⁉️PS: Tell me in the comments what should world leaders focus on to support their ND citizens?

Nearly four years have passed since Member States and European Institutions committed to ending #homelessness and making significant progress by 2030. We are halfway there, and we are not on track. With the new EU mandate underway, we invited EPOCH stakeholders to share their insights on progress, lessons learned, and the Platform's future. Who says big foundations can’t explore participatory grantmaking and share power with communities? During the past few years, I've been privileged to work with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to help design and facilitate a participatory grantmaking initiative it undertook as part of a multiyear, cross-institutional effort that cedes power to local leaders to advance health and racial equity. An important part of this initiative was documenting every part of the process, which is now available as a detailed case study that includes innumerable behind-the-scenes insights and takeaways that @RWJF hopes will be helpful to other foundations, especially larger institutions that are exploring or already engaging in some form of participatory philanthropy (which can include but isn’t limited to making grant decisions). We also hope it’s helpful to the participatory philanthropic field overall by sharing our own experiences with some of the issues that tend to emerge during these processes, including addressing conflicts of interest; deciding on participant stipends; creating the panel; building trust; holding virtual meetings; dealing with institutional guardrails and policies; and ensuring equity, diversity, and inclusion. Read the case study and let me/us know what you think. And please share with others! https://lnkd.in/e5aCKvxW Katy Love Diana Samarasan Hannah Paterson Chris Cardona Hilary C. Meeting the UK Government’s Minister for Disability last night was TJM’s most important meeting! I was honoured to discuss with Stephen Timms the need to create a #NeuroInclusive society and workplaces. It was #TJM’s most impactful meeting so far! In future meetings we have the chance to push for our agenda of #NeuroInclusionNow. Here is what you can do today to help #TheJoshieMan do to #ChangeTheWorld: ✅Like the post if you thought TJM did well in his most important meeting! ✍️Comment with the most important topics that should be on the agenda for a future meeting with the UK Government. ✏️Tag in ND activists who would have useful input for the agenda. Because if the #NDCommunity doesn’t set the agenda, then who will? Who is with us? 💪 ⁉️PS: Let us know if you agree that TJM looks good in a suit?
