I can't help create the conditions for people to do their best work and deliver the most impact without a partnership with the CEO and the CFO. A CFO like John is someone I have worked closely with who not only provides financial insights, but translates those insights into options and models that allow the executive team and I to make proactive and informed decisions. It's more than a spreadsheet or a PowerPoint slide with a pie chart. Translation of data into clear, actionable insights is key, as is a finance leader who takes it upon themself to connect with people on the frontlines to understand and validate what the data is saying. 👀
One of the most important partnerships a CFO should have in an organization is with its People leader. People are usually the biggest recurring cost to a Company. Regular communications with the People leader gives me insight and foresight into headcount management. In return, I provide my People leader with financial insights into how we can effectively manage our People investments whether the Company is in growth stage or in reorganization stage. Finance and People are also the two major functions that span across the entire company. It makes sense that these two function leaders are always in lock-step especially when time is of the essence. I’ve been fortunate to have had amazing partnership with such talented People leaders in Kraig Docherty, Lea Bottoni and Elaine McAnally. And I can say from experience that this combination of Finance and People can give the Company’s Founder/ CEO such a powerhouse tandem because the two major headaches they face every day is… money and people. (Me with my two favourite People persons Kraig and Elaine!)

Heading into 2025, we are refining who BGP is and which partnerships we focus in on. Our Partners: We are partnering with growing organizations ($1M-50M) who understand that a high-performing finance function isn't just about the numbers - it's about developing teams of people who can drive sustainable growth. Our Approach: We are fractional CFOs that help finance teams grow. We are focusing in on working with companies that need a fractional CFO for ~12-18 months who can come in and: 1) Bridge the gap between strategy and the finance function, focusing the organization's leaders on the metrics that define "success" for the company. 2) Build a team and infrastructure capable of scaling with projected growth. 3) Empower and support existing team members and leaders. 4) Leave. Through strategic mentorship, knowledge transfer, and clear growth paths, we transform finance professionals into business leaders who can scale with your vision. We are always working to build habits with your team, to create a culture of continuous improvement that persists long after we are gone. Our team provides support at every level of the Finance department - from CFO down to bookkeeper - providing balance between a competitive blended rate and a fully customized support model. Through our discovery, we provide you with a strategic roadmap and propose a custom fit support team. We work with you for 12-18 months to stabilize + build your Finance team. We aren't about quick fixes. It's about building lasting capability that grows with your organization. It's about transforming your finance function from a cost center into a strategic driver of growth. We are finance professionals, but for us it's about the people. Always has been, always will be. #FinanceTransformation #Leadership #Growth #Strategy #BeGoodPeople

I believe CFOs and finance leaders are well positioned to lead the transformation in their supply chain and purchasing departments. This article will help you take a step in that direction. Why Your Procurement Staff and Sales Department Must Work Together (link in the first comment box) For many companies, the procurement department and the sales staff might as well speak different languages. After all, one group is busy working with vendors to buy raw materials while the other is working with customers to sell finished product; their job descriptions are so different they would seem to have nothing in common. These differences give the perception that by working together they won’t add much value to the business. In fact, it is these differences that make their collaboration so valuable for their companies. 🎯 Follow CFO.University to hit the bullseye on your professional development needs. Collaborate. To.
