Temples not only act as a Cultural Heritage but also carry values, beliefs, art forms traditions that people have followed for generations. Preserving tangible cultural assets will not only add value for future generations, but also boost employment, generate revenue for the local communities, increase awareness and connect past legacies, beliefs & ideologies with current generations. Great point by Sudha Murty Madam.
Sudha Murthy’s first speech in the Rajya Sabha was dedicated to boosting domestic tourism. She highlighted 57 domestic tourist sites that should be considered World Heritage Sites, including the Bahubali statue at Shravanabelagola in Karnataka, Lingaraja Temple, Unakoti rock carvings in Tripura, Shivaji forts in Maharashtra, Chausath Yogini Temple in Mitawali, Lothal in Gujarat, and Gol Gumbaz. "In India, we have 42 World Heritage Sites, but 57 are pending ... we should focus on those 57 sites," Murthy said. She praised the marvelous temples in Srirangam and noted that the 2,500-year-old monuments in Sarnath are still not recognized as World Heritage Sites. Murthy also mentioned that the design of the old Parliament Building was inspired by the ancient Chausath Yogini Temple in Mitawali, Madhya Pradesh. Odisha is known as the land of Lord Jagannath (literally meaning the Lord of the Universe). The temple built in the 12th Century AD has been the epicenter of Jagannath cult and sees pilgrims flocking the temple town of Puri from all corners of the world throughout the year. The mysticism associated with the cult of Lord Jagannath overshadows the architectural brilliance of this magnificent temple. Built on a raised platform, the gigantic temple is an architectural marvel in its own right. The temple saw new additions to its structure till about the 16th Century AD. Unlike other temples of the region, the carvings on the temples are predominantly of gods and goddesses. The entire temple complex is enclosed within two concentric walls, the Kuruma Bheda (Inner wall) and the Meghnad Pachira (Wall). The main entrance to the temple is through Singhadwara located on the Eastern front of the temple with three other entrances along the four cardinal directions. However these are not architecturally aligned indicating that the other entrances might have been created for security purposes since the temple was at the eye of the storm during the tumultuous period between 16th and 18th century. #lawchambersofbhargabbordoloi #lawyer #lawyerlife #lawyerlifestyle #criminallawyer #travel #traveler #tour #tourist #touristlife #vacation #jagannath #jagannathtemple #jagannathpuri #puri #odisha #india #northeastindia #assam #guwahati #highlight #highlights

🌟 Exploring the Crown District of Karnataka: Bidar! 🌟 After a long break, we’re back on our journey through the districts of Karnataka. Today, let’s dive into the rich history and vibrant culture of Bidar, often referred to as the crown district of Karnataka! 🔍 Did You Know? Bidar's history stretches back to the Mahabharata era. Over centuries, it has been a center of knowledge and philosophy, thriving under various empires from the Mauryas and Shatavahanas to the Chalukyas, Kalachuris, Bahmanis, and finally the Nizams of Hyderabad. 🏰 Top 3 Must-Do Activities in Bidar: 1. Visit Basavakalyan: A short drive from Bidar, Basavakalyan is historically significant and home to several temples and a fort. It’s associated with the 12th-century social reformer Basavanna. 2. Guru Nanak Jhira Sahib: Legend has it that Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru, created a sweet water stream here during his visit. This Gurudwara complex is a major Sikh pilgrimage site and a serene retreat. 3. Bidar Fort Complex: Explore the majestic Bahmani Sultanate fort on the city's outskirts. Curious fact: Only the soil from this fort can be used for the unique Bidriware! 🍴 Must-Try Food in Bidar: - Puffed Rice Soosalu: A delightful dish made from wetted puffed rice, best enjoyed with Long Chilli Fritters (Bhajji) and a hot cup of tea! ✨ Personal Reflection: I lived in Bidar for nearly two years, over two decades ago, and it was an unforgettable experience! However, it’s bittersweet to see that today the city hasn’t progressed as much as other regions in Karnataka. ✈️ Bidar's Aerobatic Pride: Bidar is also home to the Indian Air Force's Advanced Jet Training establishment and is the base for the renowned aerobatic team. We visited Ladakh last week. We covered Leh (11,500 ft), Khardungla pass (18,800 ft), Nubra valley (11,00 ft), Pangong lake (14,000 ft), Changla pass (17,700 ft). This upper Himalayan range is a magical land. Very beautiful. Fresh, pristine, crisp air. Blue sky with white clouds. Bright sunshine. An aura of spirituality – one can get into meditative state easily. Very nice people. Every town and village is kept very clean - rest of India needs to learn cleanliness from these people. Of course, altitude sickness is a challenge. Most people use Diamox tablets. But it causes stomach upset for many people – vomiting, lose motion, dehydration, … We (3 of us) used Homeopathic medicine Coca 30 – works wonderfully without any side effects. I had used it during 15 days Kailash-Manasarovar yatra as well. We covered more than 600 km on road from altitudes of 11,000 ft to 18,800 ft. Beautifully developed new roads in 80% of the places. In the remaining 20% stretch that is under construction, we can see how bad it was and how difficult to make roads in that terrain. New airport terminal is coming up at Leh – with 14 flights arriving at Leh everyday, the tourism is growing, adding to the local economy. Clearly we can see this region is coming out of 70 years of neglect.
