Building a more resilient and connected society is at the heart of what we do. Hosting events like this is the perfect way to collaborate with partners like the Maryland Department of Information Technology and the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). Because of this event, leaders from local, state, and federal levels were able to gather together and focus on broadband expansion and how we can bridge the digital divide and strengthen our communities. It was inspiring to see their commitment to ensuring every Marylander has access to high-speed internet. Thank you to all who came out and made this event such a success!
Today, Secretary Savage kicked off the Maryland Public Sector Broadband Summit! The summit brought together key technology public sector leaders on the local, state, and federal levels to build partnerships and explore the future of broadband expansion and investment in Maryland. Secretary Savage shared the importance of state and local partnerships in effectively applying state investments and building digital equity. NetworkMaryland, the State’s high-speed fiber optic network housed within the Maryland Department of Information Technology, provides coverage for our sister agencies for public sector use. By expanding our network through investment from the federal Broadband, Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program, the State of Maryland will be better able to serve underserved Maryland communities with internet coverage and access through community anchor institutions. Thank you to our sister agency, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), for your continued partnership and all of your work securing investments that will help secure internet access across the great state of Maryland. Thank you to Skyline Technology Solutions for hosting the summit and giving us a lovely venue to learn, collaborate, and cast a vision for Maryland’s broadband future. Together, we will bridge the digital divide and ensure that no Marylander is left behind. #internetforall
