"𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞, 𝟑𝟔𝟓 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞" 👏🏻 This Children’s Day, let’s dig deeper than just a greeting—let’s reflect on the small, powerful ways we can truly support and uplift every child. Here’s what the day should remind us all to do: 1️⃣ 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲: It’s easy to forget how much our words matter. A single “you’re not doing it right” can stifle a child’s confidence, while a small “you’re almost there, let’s try this together” can encourage growth and learning. Let’s make our words a source of strength. 2️⃣ 𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Whether a child is shy or bold, every personality brings something special. Celebrating their uniqueness instead of trying to mold them into predefined roles helps them build self-acceptance and pride in who they are. 3️⃣ 𝐁𝐞 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐬: Words like “shy,” “mischievous,” or “lazy” can follow children for years, shaping how they see themselves. Let’s ditch the labels and embrace each child’s journey as one that’s full of potential and possibility. 4️⃣ 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐔𝐩, 𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧: Growing up is tough enough—there’s no need for harsh judgments that erode confidence. Let’s choose kindness, offering constructive support that nurtures and builds them up. 5️⃣ 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: True teaching and mentoring go beyond just “ correcting ” behavior. By focusing on connection, we create a bond of trust that makes kids feel safe and understood, encouraging a foundation for lifelong learning. 6️⃣ 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧, 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐲: Children’s Day is a reminder to be present in their journey, every day of the year. Let’s remember that true celebration is in the small, everyday encouragements we offer—the kind word, the patient teaching moment, the genuine smile that says “I see you, and I believe in you.” From the child within us to the children we know, here’s to a #HappyChildren’sDay full of meaning, connection, and celebration from #Skoodos! 🌈🌟

It's crucial to instill gratitude in young learners from an early age. Are we taking just a minute to teach them to say "thank you"? At home, are children truly feeling the support they receive from their caregivers and parents, something they should always expect? It's paramount to recognize the significance of teaching gratitude to young learners right from the outset. Cultivating a sense of gratitude in children not only fosters positive social interactions but also lays the foundation for a more empathetic and fulfilling life. In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it's easy to overlook the importance of simple acts of gratitude. Yet, taking just a moment to teach children the value of saying "thank you" can have a profound impact on their development. By acknowledging and appreciating the kindness of others, children learn to empathize with those around them and develop a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of human relationships. Schools play a crucial role in this endeavor, providing opportunities for children to learn and practice gratitude in a structured environment. By incorporating gratitude exercises into the curriculum and promoting acts of kindness among peers, schools can help reinforce the importance of gratitude in children's lives. Moreover, the home environment plays a crucial role in shaping children's attitudes towards gratitude. It's essential for children to feel supported and valued by their caregivers and parents. When children experience gratitude firsthand through the kindness and generosity of those around them, they are more likely to internalize these values and express gratitude in their own interactions. Teaching gratitude isn't just about manners; it's about instilling a mindset of appreciation and mindfulness in young minds. By incorporating gratitude practices into everyday routines, such as keeping a gratitude journal or sharing moments of thanks during family meals, parents and educators can help children develop a lifelong habit of gratitude that will serve them well in all aspects of their lives. In a world that often emphasizes material possessions and achievements, teaching children the value of gratitude is more important than ever. By nurturing an attitude of gratitude from an early age both at home and in school, we empower children to lead more meaningful and fulfilling lives, grounded in appreciation for the people and experiences that enrich their journey. #gratitude #labourday #respect #earlyyears #elementaryyears #valueeducation #EYP #manners #etiquette #socialnorms

It's children's day today, a day usually set aside to celebrate children all over the world. However, as I have been doing in the last couple of weeks, I would like for us to think a lot about child-like qualities that they represent. These qualities include trust, wonder, curiosity, seeing a world of possibilities and so on. As we celebrate children today, let's be intentional about trusting people and looking out for the best in them. Let's avoid familiarity with people and experiences. Let's be curious and intentional about learning, unlearning and relearning. We can achieve much more when we approach life from a place of possibilities. So, happy children's day to all of us as we choose to remain child-like. Cheers! #Childrensday #Learning #Growth #learningfromchildren

The Power of Small Acts: A Teacher's Joy As teachers, we often find joy in the little things our students do. Today, I experienced one such moment that left me feeling fulfilled and grateful. At the end of the school day, I returned to my Year 8 class to find it transformed. The room was neatly arranged, with shoes organized in a designated section in an orderly fashion. The atmosphere was palpable - you could feel the sense of pride and ownership that came with this new arrangement. What made this moment even more special was that it was two sets of students who had taken the initiative to organize the class, students who might not have normally cared about the state of their seats. Their small act of kindness and responsibility added a touch of glamour to the environment, making it a welcoming space for everyone. This experience taught me a valuable lesson: that even small acts of kindness and responsibility can have a profound impact on our environment and those around us. As teachers and parents, we often focus on the big picture, forgetting that it's the little things that can bring us the most joy and fulfillment. So, let's take a moment to appreciate the small acts of kindness and responsibility that our students show us every day. Let's encourage and celebrate these moments, no matter how small they may seem. For it's in these moments that we find true joy and fulfillment as teachers and parents. Share a time when a small act of kindness or responsibility made a big impact on you or someone else. Use the hashtag #SmallActsBigImpact and let's celebrate these moments together! #TeachersOfInstagram#SmallActsBigImpact#KindnessMatters#ResponsibilityRocks#Leadership#TeachingMoments#EducationMatters#PositiveVibesOnly #TeachingWithLove

𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙣'𝙨 𝘿𝙖𝙮: 𝙇𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙑𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙈𝙤𝙨𝙩 🌸 This Children's Day, instead of just celebrating with activities and treats, I decided to pause and listen to my students. We organized a 𝙍𝙚𝙛𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘾𝙞𝙧𝙘𝙡𝙚, where each child had the chance to share their feelings, strengths, weaknesses, and life experiences.💕🌻 It turned out to be one of the most insightful and heartwarming moments of my teaching journey. 𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙙: Some students expressed their joys, while others bravely shared their challenges, showcasing incredible emotional strength. 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙝𝙨: Their creativity, empathy, and resilience amazed me, revealing their self-awareness. 𝘼𝙙𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨: They candidly spoke about fears like public speaking or managing emotions, showing how reflection sparks growth. 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨: Their stories—small victories, lessons, and hardships—reminded me of the depth every child carries within. This activity fostered a sense of belonging ✨ and gave each student a voice, showing the power of listening and valuing every child. 💪 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧—𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡. #ChildrensDay2024 #EducationForAll #StudentEmpowerment #SocialEmotionalLearning #MentalHealthMatters #Inclusion #GrowthMindset #TeacherLeadership

✨ Words Have Power: The Little Wild Strawberry 🍓✨ Imagine a young girl, brimming with curiosity and a love for learning. She walks into her classroom each day with a sparkle in her eye 🌟, eager to soak up knowledge and explore the world 🌍. This was me—a top student, driven by an insatiable thirst for growth and discovery. But something changed. The joy I once found in school turned into a deep-seated fear 😔. The excitement that fuelled my days was replaced by anxiety 😟. The cause? Harsh words, whispered rumours, and the invisible but heavy burden they placed on my shoulders. I went from thriving in an environment of encouragement to feeling unsafe and deeply unhappy. This journey taught me a powerful lesson: our words carry weight—more than we often realise. They have the power to build or to break 🧱, to uplift 🌈 or to undermine. Reflecting on my own experiences, I recognise that we all have a role to play in the lives of those around us, especially the young minds who are still finding their place in the world. As parents, educators, and community members, our words can either stifle potential or help it bloom 🌸. What if we chose to be the gardeners of our children's minds 🌱, nurturing them with words of encouragement, understanding, and love? What if we committed to creating spaces where every child feels valued, respected, and free to be their authentic selves without the fear of judgment or ridicule? The story of the little wild strawberry 🍓 is more than a personal memory—it's a call to action. Let’s use our words to spread kindness, to be the change-makers who build a world where every 'little wild strawberry' can grow into the vibrant, thriving being they’re meant to be 🌟. Your words can change a life. Let them be a force for good 🌟💖. #PositiveWords #KindnessMatters #MentalHealthAwareness #ChildhoodDevelopment #Empowerment #EmotionalWellbeing #EducationalSupport #FindingtheI #SelfLove #GrowthMindset #TransformationalCoaching

🌍✨ Happy World Kindness Day! ✨🌍 As a Student Wellness Coordinator, I’m reminded every day of the power kindness has in shaping our schools, communities, and our world. Acts of kindness—big or small—create a ripple effect, transforming how we relate, learn, and grow together. 💚🖤 Today, let’s inspire our students to embrace kindness as a daily practice. Whether it’s a warm smile, a helping hand, or a kind word, these moments help build a culture of empathy, connection, and belonging. Here are a few ways we’re encouraging kindness in our school community: 🌟 Kindness Challenge: Our students are completing a “10 Acts of Kindness” list, with simple ideas like complimenting a classmate, sharing a game, or writing a thank-you note. 🌟 Gratitude Shoutouts: Students and staff are sharing what they’re grateful for. —a reminder of the good in our lives. 🌟 Kindness Mentorship: Our older students are mentoring younger ones, demonstrating that kindness and leadership go hand in hand. Let’s keep spreading kindness today and every day, because the smallest act of kindness can make a lasting impact. How are you celebrating #WorldKindnessDay? #StudentWellness #KindnessMatters #SchoolCommunity #SEL #WorldKindnessDay2024 #BeTheChange

“I am beautiful” As teachers, we understand the importance of creating a positive and supportive environment for our students. One powerful way I like to achieve this is through the use of affirmations in our daily classroom routine. Affirmations are positive statements that can help boost self-esteem, confidence, and overall well-being. When introduced at a young age, they can have a lasting impact on a child's mindset and outlook on themselves and their abilities. My children are always up for contributing and they never cease to amaze me 🥹 Incorporating affirmations into the daily routine can be simple yet impactful. Whether it's starting the day with a group affirmation, encouraging students to say positive affirmations to themselves in the mirror, or incorporating affirmations into classroom activities, these little moments can make a big difference in how children view themselves and their potential. We can help create a positive and empowering environment where children feel supported, valued, and confident in their abilities. #PrekEducation #PositiveAffirmations #Empowerment #EarlyChildhoodEducation

✨Rethinking Praise✨ In my recent article for Foundation Years, I explored why phrases like ‘good girl’ or ‘good boy’ may not always serve our children best. I also shared alternative ways to offer meaningful, specific praise. As parents and educators, the language we use plays a vital role in nurturing children’s confidence and fostering their growth mindset. Instead of using generic labels, I focus on acknowledging effort, behaviour, and achievements in a way that helps my daughter feel seen and valued for what she does. I’ve shared a short reel with practical examples of how I approach this in everyday moments with my daughter. These small changes in language can make a big difference in building a child’s sense of self-worth and resilience. I’d love to hear your thoughts: 💭 How do you approach praise? 💭 Do you find it challenging to move away from phrases like ‘good girl’ or ‘good boy’? Let’s spark a conversation about rethinking how we uplift and guide our children ✨ You can also find my article here: https://lnkd.in/e8AM4SGG #earlyyears #earlyeducation #earlychildhoodeducation #parenting #growthmindset 🫶I’m Laura, a qualified Early Years Specialist & Consultant.
