What a day! Today I took my Designer II and Drafter II along side our founder and CTO, to tour a facility and pick up a prototype for a very big project that has been worked on for many years. I was very nervous, due to how much hype I put into this decision, as well as work and time. I also was trying to do something that hasn't been done by those before me. Not to mention, my CTO is there with me. Not only was it a huge success, it was a blast. We laughed, we talked, we toured. My CTO got to know the employees better and they got to know him better. There wasn't a single bad moment or tense vibe the entire time. I saw motivation, excitement, and accomplishment in my people. We worked hard and got better than expected results. It's strange to be having that much fun while doing your job and being along side your Boss. However, it is clearly possible. As I left today, the team was in the conference room celebrating our techs birthday, who we all chipped in and brought food for. I saw nothing but smiles and hard workers which has left me with such a sense of pride and great fullness. Most days are not like this. Alot of days are nose to the ground and hard work, but they lead to days like this. If you trust your people and reward them, they will in turn reward you. Anyway. Thats enough sappiness for now. Big things to come.
