Being an active contributor to and participant in an office culture is vital for both personal and organizational success. As a contributor, you bring unique ideas and perspectives that can drive innovation and efficiency, fostering a dynamic and progressive workplace. Simultaneously, immersing yourself in the office culture allows you to align with the company’s values and mission, creating a sense of belonging and shared purpose. This dual engagement not only enhances team cohesion and morale but also bolsters your own professional identity and growth within the company. In essence, contributing to and being part of the office culture is a symbiotic relationship that benefits individual employees and the company as a whole, leading to a more fulfilling and productive work environment.
I've brought this topic up for discussion based on some very recent and somewhat astonishing experiences that I've had when interviewing potential Capture/BD candidates for my team.
As I continue searching for an individual to lead Capture/BD efforts for Federal Civilian at Zolon, I've had to pause (more than once) to consider some of the feedback and responses I've gotten when requesting that an employee stop by the office from time to team to be part of the incredible culture that we have here at Zolon. If you're reading this and you're in the camp of "100% remote only," consider the message you're sending to your potential future employer. If you tell them that other employers are offering you greater flexibility or another company is allowing you to be 100% remote, what you're actually saying is "I don't care about your office culture or spending time with my teammates that will be supporting me."
While I truly understand the value and benefit to hybrid work (and we support it at Zolon), I think that in a post pandemic work world that many are missing "the rest of the story." There remains too much focus on "what's in it for me" and there seems to be a continuing gap regarding a healthy respect for what one can gain by being part of a thriving office culture that supports its employees and offers excellent employee engagement.
If you've read to this point, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject.
...and if you're looking for your next growth opportunity as a Capture/BD professional, please send me a message.
