Spatial Building Navigator 🛠️📍 I am thrilled to share a project I've been working on that leverages geospatial data to provide building footprints based on any inputted latitude and longitude coordinates. By inputting a point inside any building, my application can return the precise outline of that building using a spatial algorithm. The data is visualized on a dynamic map, making it easy to interpret and utilize. In my demonstration, I've focused exclusively on public places, ensuring privacy and broad applicability. Here’s a quick overview of the features and benefits: ✨ Key Features: 🔹User-Friendly Interface: Input coordinates and instantly view building footprints on a map. 🔹 Real-Time Performance: Fast query execution and data rendering. 🔹 Accurate Geospatial Analysis: Delivers almost precise building outlines. 🌍 Potential Real-World Applications: 🚚 Logistics and Delivery Services: 📍 Route Optimization: Understand building layouts to plan the most efficient delivery routes, minimizing travel time and fuel consumption. 📍 Geofencing: Automatically detect when delivery vehicles enter or exit predefined zones, improving tracking and security. 🏢 Government Planning: 📍 Census Data Collection: Store and manage census data more efficiently by linking demographic information to specific building footprints. 📍 Urban Development: Provide accurate building data to assist in planning and zoning decisions, ensuring sustainable growth. 📍 Emergency Services: Improve the ability of emergency services to respond quickly and accurately by understanding the layout and access points of buildings. 🌆 Smart City Initiatives: 📍 Infrastructure Planning: Use building footprint data to plan infrastructure projects like roads, utilities, and public transportation more effectively. 📍 Energy Management: Optimize the distribution of energy resources by understanding the spatial distribution and energy needs of buildings. 🏠Real Estate and Property Management: 📍 Property Valuation: Provide more accurate property valuations by understanding the exact footprint and location of buildings. 📍 Land Use Planning: Assist in determining the best use of land based on building distribution and urban density. This project has the potential to transform various sectors by providing precise geospatial data. I am excited about the impact it can have and look forward to exploring further applications. Your feedback and suggestions are welcome! I am still working on this project and striving to make it even better and more accurate with faster query times. Thank you for your support! 🔗 #India #GeospatialData #Logistics #UrbanPlanning #DeliveryServices #Innovation #GIS #Mapping #SmartCities #RealEstate

GIS In Urban Planning | Applications, Tools & Benefits In urban planning, geographic information systems (GIS) play an important role in collecting, managing, analyzing and presenting geographic data. Benefits of GIS in urban planning Early use of GIS in urban planning was hindered by the high costs involved in setup and maintenance. However, the increase in GIS use has occurred as software has become more accessible and hardware has become more affordable. There are many benefits of using GIS in urban planning, here are the top 5 of them: >>see details: https://lnkd.in/d5wrbb2t

Our users call us a GIS tool for Non-GIS users. But what does that mean? If you're a developer, architect, consultant, asset manager, lawyer, planner, or municipal worker, you know the struggle of navigating today's housing crisis, especially with the fast-changing zoning policies. Finding the right data and context is time-consuming. Our Locate tool makes it easier and faster letting you save up to 70% of the time you spend on due diligence and site selection. Here's how: 🔍 With Locate, you can: - Identify under-utilized sites for development. - Search for precedents and applications in your area. - Find sites that match your criteria with custom searches. 💡 How to Use Locate: Use Templates: - Underdeveloped Sites: Area > 15,000 ft², Zoning Category Code, Existing Coverage < 40% - Site Conditions: Area > 15,000 ft², Height Limit < 20 m, Land Use Category, Excludes TRCA & Environmentally Significant Areas - Community Features: Area > 15,000 ft², Close to Parks & Transit Customize Searches: - Set your data & area. - Select and customize templates. And, finally, download the Results for your next presentation. ✨ What makes us unique in one sentence? We let you visualize and run searches using multiple data layers together - e.g., all development applications near a transit station. Curious to learn more? 🌍 Work with a System, Not Project-Based: The Power of #GIS for Architects, Urban Designers and Planners! 🏙️ Transitioning from architectural design into urban planning, I became an expert in GIS applied to urban and real estate studies. This shift has highlighted the incredible efficiency of working with GIS—or as I call it, working with a system, not project-based. No matter where you are—I've experienced the same in Latin America, the USA, and the UK—we typically analyze sites on a project-by-project basis. However, with GIS, you can perform city-wide analyses, saving time and ensuring that work done is useful for future projects, making the process much more efficient. Unlike traditional methods (like zoning PDFs or flood risk maps), GIS software like QGIS integrates geospatial data for comprehensive, up-to-date city-wide analysis. These layers often cover extensive areas, beneficial for future nearby projects. This approach saves time, ensures consistency, and improves accuracy. That's working with a system, not project-based. If you have any questions, please comment or DM me! #UrbanDesign #UrbanPlanning #QGIS #SpatialData #CityPlanning #DataAnalysis #Geospatial #UrbanDesign

Urban planning is one of the main applications of GIS. Urban planners use GIS both as a spatial database and as an analysis and modelling tool. The applications of GIS vary according to the different stages, levels, sectors, and functions of urban planning. With the increase in user-friendliness and functions of GIS software and the marked decrease in the prices of GIS hardware, GIS is an operational and affordable information system for planning. It is increasingly becoming an important component of planning support systems. Recent advances in the integration of GIS with planning models, visualisation, and the Internet will make GIS more useful to urban planning. The main constraints in the use of GIS in urban planning today are not technical issues, but the availability of data, organisational change, and staffing. Pdf Credit: Respective Owner #urban #GIS
