80% of unpaid carers with a health condition have considered giving up their jobs amid a lack of support from their employers. That’s according to new research we’ve supported from Carers Trust and Business in the Community. Our researchers spoke to carers, employers, and the public to uncover the employment challenges facing carers with a health condition and how companies can improve support. Mental health provision is an important consideration, with 86% of carers saying access to mental health support, such as the support provided through our Health Plans, is key to helping them balance caring, their health and work. To help with this, the partnership has released a guide for employers to help them recognise the challenges being faced by employees and how to better support them to stay in, and excel at, their jobs.
