I always value the opportunity to step out of the office and visit one of the operational areas of the Port of Brisbane. Today we visited one of our terminal operators on the quay line to view one of their new state of the art cranes being commissioned. And a great view of the city in the background!

Let’s kick off our new series where we break down important port management terms. This week, we’re talking about “Berth.” Ever wondered what a berth is? Simply put, it’s a designated spot in a port where a ship can dock and load or unload cargo. Think of it as a parking space for ships! Understanding how berths work is key to managing port operations smoothly and efficiently. Stay tuned for more insights in the coming weeks! #pmawca #portsmanagement #ports #portmanagement #maritimepilot #maritimepilots #maritimeknowledge #maritimesecurity #maritimeoperations #shippingindustry #tradefacilitation #seaport

Advanced technology in container handling. Port of Los Angeles USA. They reduce human interaction and lower the risk of accidents
Port of the Week: Los Angeles (USA) 🌍🚢 Welcome to North America's busiest container port! Check out this unique view of APMT Los Angeles, where Automated Straddle Carriers (Autostrads) are used in the terminal. There are many advantages of these Autostrads: ✅ Safety: they reduce human interaction and lower the risk of accidents. ✅ Efficiency: They move containers between the quay and yard without needing additional equipment and can operate 24/7. ✅ Cost-Effective: with precise navigation capabilities, Autostrads maximise yard space and can accommodate more containers within the same footprint. It is also easy to add or replace a unit without substantial down-time. ✅ Sustainable: Autostrads are often electrically powered, contributing to a reduction in emissions. Don’t they look like they’re dancing around each other? 🕺💃 Video credits to my colleague: Neidyr Cury

The GAPPRI introduces a fundamental element: "Runway Safety is not just a local issue". Mitigation actions introduced at an airport could also be useful for an airport located on another continent. The recommendation for the implementation of a NATIONAL RUNWAY SAFETY TEAM goes in this direction... Form the LOCAL RUNWAY SAFETY TEAM to the NATIONAL RUNWAY SAFETY TEAM and may be in the future there will be a WORLD RUNWAY SAFETY TEAM

🚢 Port of Baltimore Operations Restored! We are thrilled to share that after an 11-week operation by multiple agencies, the Port of Baltimore is fully back in action! The 700-foot-wide and 50-foot-deep channel is now clear of all debris from the March collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, meaning unrestricted two-way maritime traffic can resume. T For us, this means a return to normal #drayage operations, allowing us to seamlessly transport #containers between port terminals and inland destinations without restrictions. This reopening comes as a relief for our business, including our drivers who serve the Port of Baltimore, and the thousands of others impacted by the partial closure, which caused significant logistical disruptions and economic impacts. We can't thank enough the tireless teams who worked round the clock to restore safe operations for this critical maritime gateway. With the port back at full capacity, we are gearing up for a surge in activity. Major shippers, like automakers, are already rerouting shipments back through Baltimore. As a key entry point for cargo bound for the Upper Midwest and East Coast markets, the port's reopening will provide a boost to regional supply chains and commerce. Our CPG team is ready to support the increased volumes and meet our customers' transportation needs. We look forward to playing our part in rebuilding economic momentum through the Port of Baltimore. While challenges remain from the bridge incident, this milestone represents a big step forward for maritime trade in the Northeast region. #trucking #baltimore #logistics #transportation https://lnkd.in/gPu98C8x

Let’s take a part of Fremantle Port’s Inner Harbour today – the northern wharf. This Port Precinct is the combined area of the port that incorporates North Quay and Rous Head and it’s where all the action happens. (I hear the ro/ro industry hiss – we’ll talk about you soon, I promise 😅). Many of the empty container parks are located within this area, along with our two container terminals, DP World (berths CT1 and CT2) and Patricks (CT3 and CT4) These terminals sit side by side, and whilst they have their own length of quay line, there is also around 210m of shared space in between. On either side of the container terminals are common user berths. These berths are used for general and break bulk cargo unloading and lay down – these are berths 1 and 2 along with 11 and 12. Do you want to know more about Fremantle’s Inner Harbour? Head over to the Fremantle Ports interactive map - https://lnkd.in/gkHzxd5n
