Groundbreaking (from a comment below: "The structure of the nanobot is created using the DNA origami technique, where DNA strands are folded into specific shapes. This is done purely through chemical binding, with no need for any type of electrical control. nce the DNA structure opens in the tumor environment, the ligands displayed on the nanobot (still purely biological) bind to receptors on cancer cells, initiating apoptosis (cell death). This biological interaction between the ligands and cell receptors is a chemical process, driven by the natural affinity between the molecules... nothing to do with AI and robotics like the video suggests".)

What the researchers refer to as nanobot is purely DNA folded in an origami structure. The structure of the nanobot is created using the DNA origami technique, where DNA strands are folded into specific shapes. This is done purely through chemical binding, with no need for any type of electrical control. Once the DNA structure opens in the tumor environment, the ligands displayed on the nanobot (still purely biological) bind to receptors on cancer cells, initiating apoptosis (cell death). This biological interaction between the ligands and cell receptors is a chemical process, driven by the natural affinity between the molecules.

I recently attended an event celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit and scientific inquiry in medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. I was one of maybe a handful of people in attendance without a medical degree or background. But what is super cool about that is I get to learn about new stuff and then write about it. I left the event with a deeper understanding of how early cancer detection technologies can help save lives. #beatcancer #entrepreneurship #sciencewriting
