Today I watched a seminar called “Empowering Older Women,” delving into topics such as technology adaptation, retirement readiness, and strategies for women to recognize, plan, and take hold of their future. The elderly are frequently disregarded due to their age, yet our elders impart wisdom and contribute to the holistic functioning of societies. A key concern was the early access to social security benefits, posing long-term sustainability challenges and hindering full retirement. The goal of fostering supportive networks, providing access to resources, and enhancing financial literacy is to create healthy boundaries regarding financial decision-making. How are Aussie parents and grandparents investing for kids? New Vanguard research reveals a growing number of Australian adults are actively investing on behalf of children under 18. Notably, around 80% of Vanguard Personal Investor Kids accounts are opened by adults aged 35 to 54. The majority of minors' accounts (about 82%) are directed towards the diversified high-growth fund option that invests in 90% growth assets (shares) and 10% income-producing assets (bonds). This higher-risk strategy underscores the general belief that children can benefit from greater compounding growth due to their longer investment horizon.
