Check Point makes a brilliant move by appointing Nadav Zafrir as the company's CEO.
At first glance, one might ask, what’s the connection? Nadav Zafrir, brilliant as he may be, commanded the elite Unit 8200, leading and transforming the lives of thousands of talents who reshaped the global cyber landscape.
Every hiring manager would say that managing and commanding are fundamentally different in their essence and purpose. So, managing a company at an immense scale, especially a publicly traded one, what do we have here? Why is this such a genius move?
Check Point, perceived as a veteran, traditional, and not-so-innovative company—despite being highly innovative—is undergoing a rebranding. They are placing at their helm the man who represents cyber innovation in the new world. The man who gave the world Team 8, which added another sparkling layer to elite unit entrepreneurs, contributing dozens of companies to the scene and turning many entrepreneurs into wealthy and happy individuals. All of this, with the hope that it will permeate Check Point's veins and lead to a different kind of blossoming; in development, new acquisitions, and fresh young blood.
Instead of founding a startup and suffering from the pains of its early stages, Nadav Zafrir is handed a well-established company and gets to conquer another peak—managing a public company behemoth to new heights.
As I tell every hiring manager, at every stage, there’s a professional profile and work experience. Behind all these are people with talents and abilities that aren’t written in any document, digital or otherwise. These special traits are what turn people into stars that illuminate the world.
Good luck, Nadav Zafrir. I’m curious to see the magic you'd bring to this play ground.
