❗ Want to see changes in the care system like we do? 💜 We have recently launched our manifesto ‘Time to show you care’. 1. Urgently reform the care system so every child has the love, care and stability they need. 2. Make children’s relationships a key consideration in all decisions. 3. End the care cliff so young people can make a positive start to adulthood. 4. Improve the support provided to children and young people by other public services. 5. Put young people’s voices at the heart of the care system. The next Government must have higher aspirations for care-experienced children and young people and deliver meaningful change. ⬇️ Read more, sign or share our open letter: https://lnkd.in/eAWunMWT

"Serve and return" interactions are key to early development, shaping not just brain architecture but fostering lifelong curiosity and learning. The Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University highlights how nurturing environments support both cognitive and emotional growth. Reading together amplifies these benefits by creating a unique shared experience that builds and strengthens relationships while fostering bonding. #ReadingTogether creates moments that are powerful tools for early childhood development and relationship building. #EarlyChildhoodDevelopment #Literacy #ServeAndReturn #ChildDevelopment #ReadingTogether #RaisingaReader
We have long known that a child’s environment of relationships is critical for development. When we reduce sources of stress in a child and their caregiver's environment, we are supporting stronger, healthier child-caregiver relationships. WM2U, an approach funded by The Hunter Foundation and BBC Children in Need, has today published a paper to share how best we can help families in Dundee & East Ayrshire. The new paper explores what makes positive change possible, identifying five key aspects of voice-led system change. Over the past five years we've learned so much about how to enable children to flourish within their families - and we're excited to share this knowledge in the new paper, which you can read here: https://lnkd.in/e8YreSz4

A series of updates are available that give more detail of the evidence basis drawn on by the funders for this codifying report. https://lnkd.in/eDE2aJNm Mindful that #systemchange also includes engagement with and challenge to established perspectives about #evidence, we are interested in using these emerging insights to support wider dialogue about system change, including the place of evidence within it. In particular this learning partner report shares thinking about how to evaluate system change and offers emerging evidence of impact so far. https://lnkd.in/eeGitNbD Jo Kennedy Douglas McKelvie
