🏢 Efficiency saves money — Whose money? Member States', citizens', and industries'! A recent study by Eurima (European Insulation Manufacturers Association), European Climate Foundation, and International Copper Association Europe highlights the significant impact that efficiency in buildings can have on reducing peak demand. 📯 If we increase renovation rates and therefore reduce peak demand by 50%, the benefits are clear:  - EU Member States could collectively save €312 billion every year. - Citizens could reduce their energy bills by an average of 50% across Europe.  - Industries would experience a significant reduction in their operational expenses related to electricity costs. These numbers can be achieved through the adoption of #efficientsolutions. By installing #EVcharging infrastructure, multifamily housing owners can make their properties more attractive to current and potential residents who own or plan to purchase #ElectricVehicles. Multifamily housing in #California can significantly benefit from the Communities in Charge program. The program offers tiered incentives, with #multifamily housing sites receiving $7,000 per Level 2 charging port, compared to the base incentive of $3,500 per port for other site types. This higher incentive makes it more financially feasible for apartment complexes to install #EV charging infrastructure. Sites are eligible for a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 40 charging ports, allowing for more comprehensive coverage of resident parking areas. The incentives cover a wide range of eligible project costs, including upgrades to transformers and electrical panels, installation, design, and signage costs, level 2 with minimum 6.2kW and OCPP networked EV charging equipment, network management software for the first 2 years, demand energy management equipment, extended warranties and O&M plans. You may have seen the amazing news last week about the Biden-Harris administration’s rollout of $7.3 billion to modernize rural electrification. It’s part of the Inflation Reduction Act’s New ERA program, which represents the biggest investment in rural electrification since the days of the New Deal.   There are so many different people and organizations playing a part in these moments. But I want to tell you about one doing incredible work behind the scenes to bring clean energy to rural communities: Beneficial Electrification League.   Thanks in part to a grant from Invest in Our Future, BEL was able to assist rural electric cooperatives, small-town utilities, and Tribes in designing 100 proposals for the New ERA and PACE programs, which together offer more than $10 billion for power modernization projects. These proposals collectively represented 4000 megawatts of solar, 2000 megawatts of wind, and 2000 megawatts of storage—and would generate over 22 million tons in greenhouse gas pollution reductions each year.   BEL has also worked to raise awareness and ramp up technical assistance in rural areas for Direct Pay tax credits. And they’ve helped dozens of communities in over 30 states seek out funding from a wide range of new clean energy programs established in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.   Already, they’ve unlocked roughly $300 million for grid resilience and innovation projects, and they had a hand in proposals now under consideration that represent tens of millions more.   Some of these efforts span several states. Others promise to broaden electricity access in Tribes or accelerate community efforts to reach 100% clean power goals.
