The SHB team advised a client whose partner had died intestate without a Will. Although they had been cohabiting for over three decades, the surviving partner did not inherit anything from the estate. Instead, the estate went to the deceased’s children, including one which they hadn’t seen for 20 years. Protect your partner’s future by making a Will. If you need to make a Will, please email: [email protected] to arrange a face-to-face or telephone appointment. #SHBsolicitors #Will #Estate #LegalAdvice #Leicester

In these weird economic times, we should consider outside the box strategies to help us leverage our money in the most tax efficient way. Let's start the conversation to see if you deserve to have leverage in your strategy.
In this graphic, Annie is 62, has six grandchildren, and a $100,000 CD she wants to use for grandchildren #LegacyGifts. If she died at 62, each grandchild would receive just over $16,000 - that's a nice grandma. But she COULD leave each grandchild over $36,000 by using #LifeInsurance. Let me show you how in this blog post: https://lnkd.in/ess2izPK

In January, I lost my stepson. For two months, I believed he had died from a fentanyl overdose, only to later discover at his life celebration that he had been murdered. The pain and grief of that loss were overwhelming, but it led me to a powerful realization: by serving others, I could heal. That's why I launched an initiative to end veteran homelessness by 9/9/2029. During my journey to house veterans, I’ve encountered systemic injustices involving judges, corporations, and government officials breaking the very laws they are meant to uphold. The Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the land—nothing and no one is above it, not even judges or law enforcement. Any law or ruling that gives special immunity to public officials is unconstitutional, plain and simple. Why is this important? Because the Constitution also protects the most vulnerable, including the poor and homeless. Yet, in June 2024, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Grants Pass v. Johnson that cities can enforce anti-camping laws even when no shelter is available, effectively criminalizing homelessness. This leaves those without shelter, including thousands of veterans, with no legal place to sleep—a clear violation of their rights. The Eighth Amendment prohibits excessive fines and cruel and unusual punishment. Punishing homeless veterans for sleeping outdoors when they have no other choice surely falls into this category. We need to remember: the Constitution was written to protect the people, not the government or civil servants. It’s time for us, We the People, to reclaim our power. The Constitution grants us the authority to demand accountability and justice. Let's stand together and ensure that the rights of all individuals, especially our veterans, are respected. It's time for these civil servants to serve the people like the supreme law of the land states. If they don't want to follow the constitution, the supreme law of the land, serve the people, even the poor, it's time for us to exercise our constitutional rights as the public and remove them from office.

With heavy hearts, we want to address the recent tragedy that has happened in Mauldin. At Safe Harbor, we stand in solidarity with those affected by this senseless act of violence. Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of Kim Melissa Thrift and Mariellen Minor who are now grappling with unimaginable grief and pain. We extend our deepest condolences and offer our support in any way possible during this difficult time. The devastating loss of life due to domestic violence is a stark reminder of the urgent need for collective action and unwavering support for survivors. Domestic abuse is a pervasive issue that knows no boundaries and affects individuals of all backgrounds. It thrives in silence and secrecy, but it is only through open dialogue, education, and proactive intervention that we can hope to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future. As a community, we must come together to condemn all forms of domestic abuse and support survivors with compassion, resources, and a commitment to justice. We urge anyone who may be experiencing abuse or knows someone who is to reach out for help. You are not alone, and there are organizations like Safe Harbor ready to offer support, guidance, and safety. Together, let us honor the memories of those we have lost by renewing our dedication to creating a community where abuse has no place, and where every individual can feel safe and valued in their relationships. https://loom.ly/J7gax_0

Hi, it’s Deborah and Euzi Did you know that older people may be more likely to suffer abuse from an adult child than young people? And that economic abuse is also more prevalent among older people? https://buff.ly/3WdFhMC #legaladvicefordivorcematters #legaladviceforlandlordandtenantmatters #legaladviceforemploymentmatters #mackenziefriend #helpingyoutopreparetoattendatcourt #affordablelawforyou #bespokelegaladvice

ℹ️ STATEMENT FROM MUSLIMS IN RAIL ON GROWING THREATS OF FAR-RIGHT EXTREMIST VIOLENCE ACROSS THE UK ℹ️ 📰 read full statement here - https://lnkd.in/e4AycJRx "Muslims in Rail joins other civic organizations in raising alarm about the current wave of far-right extremist violence and civic disorder in the UK, targeting law enforcement, places of worship, and the public. This campaign, driven by misinformation and Islamophobic propaganda, aims to terrorise and harm Muslims. The perpetrators should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law for their criminal actions, including rioting, vandalism, looting and violent hate crimes disguised as public protests. Broadcasters, political representatives, and social media platforms must take responsibility to stop spreading malicious misinformation." "We urge all members of the public, passengers or staff who may appear Muslim (or from a Black, Asian or Ethnic Minority background) to exercise safety and caution when travelling during this weekend." • SAFETY FIRST – Check before your travel. Avoid travelling through hate ‘protest’ sites or alone. Call 999 if threatened. • REPORT ISLAMOPHOBIA - https://lnkd.in/ecFj4NJE • MOSQUE SAFETY ADVICE- https://lnkd.in/eXxbvfcX Most importantly, we urge our Rail and Transport partners to support the Police in ensuring safety for everyone, including staff and passengers. Increased visibility, patrols, awareness of emergency protocols, and open communication with community groups are crucial. The heightened threat to vulnerable minority groups, especially Muslims, must be taken seriously. Verbal and physical attacks, particularly against women and the elderly, are a real concern. We oppose all discrimination, hate speech, and violence towards anyone based on their protected characteristics. Let's unite to celebrate diversity and encourage dialogue. Promoting peace among different faiths is crucial for strong, inclusive communities. We urge everyone to engage in constructive conversations and reject actions that promote division or intolerance. Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of all those affected following the tragic loss of innocent lives in Southport. Destruction of property can be a clear indicator of domestic violence. Abusers often target and damage their victim's essential and/or expensive belongings to invoke fear or control their victim's access to resources. This tactic leaves psychological harm, and it should not be overlooked. If this sounds familiar to your or a loved one's experiences, resources are available. Contact CAWC's 24/7 hotline at (773)278-4566 to discover options or learn more information. #EndDomesticViolence #NonprofitsOfChicago #DomesticViolence
