For those who missed it (I did!) the 2024 Edelman Trust Barometer has been published - with a lead that says we are facing a collision of trust, innovation, and politics and that "rapid innovation offers the promise of a new era of prosperity, but instead risks exacerbating trust issues, leading to further societal instability and political polarization." They suggest there are "4 Ways to Restore Trust in the Promise of Innovation" - which likely reflects a lot of what we see in our day to day engagement with communities: 1. Implementation is as important as invention 2. Business must partner for change 3. Science must integrate with society 4. Give me control over my future Interestingly - Australia has seen some improvement in the Trust Index (average percent trust in NGOs, business, government, and media) between 2023 and 2024 but there is definitely room for improvement that we should all consider. It's worth checking out the Trust 10 - with the first insight suggesting that "Acceptance is as important as invention. Respondents by nearly a two-to-one margin believe innovation is poorly managed (insufficient government regulation, lack of trust in traditional leaders, suspicion of science’s independence from politics and money). Respondents need to know that the inventions have been evaluated by scientists and ethicists, are effectively regulated, and feel in control over the impact on their lives." It's always a good read for any of us interested in how leaders can better connect with our communities in an increasingly complex environment.

Inspirations from Business Ecosystem (24) The persona of different types of enterprises indicates that future advantages of enterprises are jointly determined by their competitiveness and ecological strength.
