Some of you may not know that I am adopted, in fact I was finally adopted aged 4 ½ years old. I was one of the lucky ones who did not become a state statistic of what was usually expected of anyone who was in care at that time in the 1950’s. I was able to go to a good school and then college and achieve many things. When I look back if fills me with immense gratitude to realise this. So, to celebrate the importance of adoption I would like to draw your attention to National Adoption Week. National Adoption Week 2024 is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about adoption and celebrating the families that have been formed through this beautiful process. It provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of adoption and to encourage more people to consider adoption as a way to build their families. During this week, various events and activities take place to support prospective adoptive parents, adoptees, and birth parents and to showcase the positive impact of adoption on individuals and communities. There’s been a 22% increase in the number of children with a plan for adoption not yet matched with an adoptive family since last year There are now more children yet to be placed with a family, than there are approved adopters waiting to be matched with a child With fewer potential adopters coming forward, children of all ages are facing delays of over 18 months to find their forever home For further information about the events being offered this week or for more helpful information, please go to the first message in the comments below and click on the link where you will find much more information. #NationalAdoptionWeek #AdoptionAwareness #ForeverFamily #AdoptionJourney #LovingAdoption #AdoptiveParents #AdoptionIsLove Copy curtesy of youcanadopt.co.uk Photo curtesy of awarenessdays.com Caption: Close up image of a small child's hand holding an adult hand walking in nature.

Thanks for sharing Sharon. My adoption is the reason I trained as a Biodynamic Craniosacral therapist 🥰. By accessing the pre-birth, birth, relinquishment and pre-verbal trauma through this profound therapy, I have been able to heal and move forward more and more in my life xx

Thank you Sharon Bannister for highlighting the great gap and need for people to come forward and adopt so many who need a home.. so sad to think of all these little souls.

Those figures are really thought provoking and sobering Sharon Bannister - and I can't help thinking about the impact this has on the future of those children yet to be adopted

Thanks for sharing Sharon x That's such a sad statistic, when we know that the lack of safety and connection affect brain development in the early years 😕
