When we started on this journey a few years ago, we very quickly realized that this is not something that we can do alone. If we wanted to make real and sustainable change, if we really want to move the needle, we need to move ahead together as an industry. And with that in mind, we launched the Equal at Sea Conference in 2022. Since then, it’s been so encouraging to see the industry leaning in and really making progress on creating a more equitable ecosystem for women at sea. I really believe, this is not something that is a one-time effort, but we need to keep the efforts on, and the conversation going. We need to have the courage to continue, we need to do this collectively. Academies of Science are prestigious, independent institutions made up of top scientists who provide expert, evidence-based advice to governments and society. They promote scientific research, support education, and uphold ethical standards in science. They are not government agencies, businesses, or lobbying groups. However, academies exist to advance knowledge for the public good, offering long-term insights rather than immediate solutions.
