Our UK family is made up of thousands of unique people, each navigating their own life events and challenges. We’re committed to shaping our world for the better, and that starts with supporting our people. From late October through to mid-November, we ran a carefully selected programme of events designed to help our people with the things that matter. The programme focused on three key elements: Being Confident with Your Money, Be Kind to Yourself and Be There for Your Loved Ones. With over 75 live virtual events across a wide range of topics and the option to book a private and confidential 1-2-1 with one of our experts, we hoped there was something for everyone. Here’s what our people said: “The wellbeing programme has been amazing with something for everyone.” “Love the bite size of the event - made me take a break on a busy day which I find hard to do.” “Absolutely brilliant sessions and cover wide range of things we don't usually talk about.”

Last week we talked about all the different ways you can improve your own health & wellbeing. This week I'd like you to think about how you can introduce the 5 ways to wellbeing into your daily routine. The 5 ways to wellbeing are simple things you can actually do. Connect - with yourself, friends and family Take Notice- of your needs and your surroundings. Be Active- you don't have to get all hot and sweaty, actively take part and show up. Keep Learning - learn a new skill, it's fun! (Last night I learnt how to breathe properly)! Give - yourself a break, be kind to yourself and switch off that phone! When was the last time you got together with your friends and had someone else cook your dinner and pamper YOU? My wellbeing events can be adapted to suit a stress down day in the office, a works night out, a social group, special birthdays and celebrations. But for now here's a ladies Only event. https://lnkd.in/eX7RTvUb

Did you know that we co-designed a handbook to provide a set of principles upon which wellbeing initiatives for men should be based, drawn from what men have told us is important to them. We believe that by following these principles, wellbeing initiatives are more likely to be effective for, and appeal to, men going through tough times before reaching crisis point. This handbook addresses three key questions that successful wellbeing initiatives for men must consider: 1. How can wellbeing initiatives engage less well-off men on a preventative basis earlier in their lives? 2. How can those wellbeing initiatives be seen as relevant to less well-off men earlier in their lives? 3. How can wellbeing initiatives maximise their impact for less well-off men by: • Increasing meaningful connections • Providing a sense of purpose You can find out more about our research at: https://lnkd.in/eFasWthT

There are some real pearls of wisdom here from the great and good of the World Wellbeing Policy Forum. If you are still struggling with convincing your Board that wellbeing is a business imperative, then ask them to spend 6 minutes of their busy lives to read this report. The one inspirational quote, amongst many, that sums it up for me is that "businesses have a profound role to play in advancing the broader cause of happiness and wellbeing for society." Read on! #workplacewellbeing #happiness #loneliness #workplacewellbeingpractitionersforum #performance

In one of my past jobs, wellbeing took the form of social support and connection - we did rock-climbing, salsa dancing, travel, coffee dates, and Friday night drinks together. --> But, there was limited opportunity for progression and after a little while I found the work wasn't challenging enough for me. In another job I had, wellbeing meant I had a flexible lunch break, so I could go to the gym in my break plus eat lunch, and still get a full productive work day done. --> What was missing was the sense of belonging and social connection. If you take a step back and ask some questions before throwing random wellbeing initiatives at your staff, you can find out what is already working for your people. So, following on from yesterday's post, have you thought about what wellbeing means to you, and do you have any insights into what wellbeing means for your people? I'd love to hear your thoughts below, and if you already shared yesterday, I'd love to know about the wellbeing experiences you've had in your past jobs that worked👇
Getting wellbeing strategy right might not happen on the first go. Before jumping in with random initiatives, step back and ask some questions: What does wellbeing mean for me? What does wellbeing mean for my people? Take some time to gather the data and information you need before setting up new initiatives. For support, contact us at [email protected].

The wellbeing provisions you're using are causing your employees more harm than good. A difficult to swallow truth in a time where wellbeing is needed more than ever. After Covid hit, we saw the introduction of hundreds of wellbeing provisions and initiatives, all offering big promises... Fast forward 4 years, and many question marks have been raised about the effectiveness of these programmes, the ethics behind them and their ROI. It's time to reassess. On Wednesday 1st May at 1PM, I'm hosting a free webinar on exactly this. I'll be joined by two special guests from world-renowned companies to uncover the wellbeing programmes with the biggest impact and the ones that have really missed the mark. You can sign up using the link in the comments. I know that sounds difficult to do when organisations have already invested the money and (some) time... But it's time for a spring clean. You'll leave the webinar feeling more confident about the wellbeing provisions that actually work. #webinar

This week (24th - 30th June) is World Wellbeing Week and, as a company dedicated to keeping people safer, it is an opportunity for us to highlight the things we do and reflect on what else we could be doing to care for the wellbeing of our team. Our mission is to be the provider of innovative solutions for a safer future, meaning we are constantly focused on safety hazards for road workers and road users so that we can develop smart ideas, creative designs and new technology to reduce risk. Our people are at the heart of our business, and we are committed to innovating in the way we care for their wellbeing too, here’s how: 👷♀️ We ensure that everyone has the correct PPE, including face-fit masks, along with comfortable accommodation and meal allowances when they need to work away from home. 🏋️ We offer benefits including discounted gym memberships and a cycle to work scheme, which are helping to keep our people fit and active. 🤝 We have an Employee Assistance Programme and four fully trained Mental Health First Aiders, so people always have someone to talk to. 🫶 We support initiatives that help people feel great inside and out, including our recent movement challenge in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, desk yoga for Mental Health Awareness Week and our volunteering scheme. Wellbeing is not a one-off tick in a box, it's a long-term culture, and definitely one that's important to us here at Highway Care! #worldwellbeingweek #wellbeing #wellness #mentalhealth #safety #employeewellbeing #innovativesolutionsforasaferfuture #highwaycare
