Insurance plays a critical role in logistic handling due to the various risks associated with transporting goods. Here are the key reasons why insurance is important: Risk Mitigation Logistics involves multiple stages, including storage, transportation, and delivery, each of which exposes goods to potential damage, theft, loss, and other hazards. Insurance helps mitigate these risks by providing financial protection against unforeseen events. Financial Protection: In the event of an accident, natural disaster, or other incidents resulting in damage or loss of goods, insurance ensures that the financial burden does not fall entirely on the logistics company or the cargo owner. This protection is crucial for maintaining financial stability and business continuity. Legal Compliance: Many countries and regions require logistics companies to have certain types of insurance to operate legally. Having the appropriate insurance coverage ensures compliance with these regulations and avoids legal penalties. Customer Assurance: Offering insured logistics services can enhance customer confidence. Clients are more likely to trust and choose a supplier that guarantees compensation for potential losses or damages, thus improving customer relationships and satisfaction. Liability Coverage: Logistics operations often involve multiple parties, including shippers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers. Insurance provides coverage for liability in cases where a party may be held responsible for damages or losses, protecting against potential legal claims and financial liabilities. Operational Continuity: Insurance helps ensure that logistics operations can continue smoothly even after an incident. For example, if a shipment is lost or damaged, the insurance payout can be used to replace the goods, thereby minimizing disruption to the supply chain and business operations. Cargo-Specific Coverage: Different types of cargo have different risk profiles. Specialized insurance policies can be tailored to cover specific types of goods, such as perishable items, high-value electronics, or hazardous materials, providing appropriate levels of protection based on the nature of the cargo. Peace of Mind: Knowing that potential risks are covered by insurance allows logistics companies and their clients to focus on their core operations without constantly worrying about the financial impact of possible incidents. This peace of mind can lead to better business performance and strategic planning. In summary, insurance is vital during logistic handling as it provides comprehensive risk management, financial protection, legal compliance, enhanced customer trust, and operational resilience. It is an essential component of a robust logistics strategy, ensuring that both companies and their clients are safeguarded against the myriad risks inherent in the transportation and handling of goods. #Logistics #Oceanfreight #Airfreight #Cargoinsurance https://www.panavia.nl

A #freight broker acts as an intermediary that connects its #shipper customers — that have goods to transport — with motor #carriers, who have the capacity to move those goods. A freight broker’s value lies in its ensuring that the nexus between shipper and motor carrier remains reliable and efficient from both a #logistics and cost perspective. As a broker, the importance of vetting carrier partners cannot be overstated, writes Jamal Z. Rehman. #trucking #transportation https://lnkd.in/gxMd8SNt

Excellent overview of what CAN Happen, and how to avoid/manage if it does.
LOGISTICS Damage to cargo during the journey. Containerized maritime cargo frequently suffers damage due to handling of the container during the journey becouse to weather conditions or port operations. These damages, in many cases, are not reported by the shipping company or port operator because they are not very evident on the outside of the container, which is why when the cargo arrives at its destination, the surprise is greater. If the damage is detected during customs inspection at the destination port, the claim to the shipping company is a +/- simple process, but if the damage is detected after the cargo leaves the port, the situation becomes much more complicated. 🎯 What can we do to minimize the damage and, on the other hand, present the claim to the shipping company or insurance company? I) The merchandise packing process must consider tolerance to maneuvers. Savings on packing materials often end up being a greater expense. II) When we load the container we must ensure that the cargo stowage complies with international standards. III) The E&R must be reviewed in detail before being accepted and signed. IV) Whenever possible, it is most advisable to contract an insurance policy for the cargo and define the SOP with the insurer company. V) If damage is observed, make an inspection report through a certified expert. If we do all this (and more) we have taken proactive measures to minimize damage to the cargo during its journey and transportation and we will be better prepared to file a claim that is successfully resolved. The most frequent causes for rejection of claims are: 📍 Incorrect or insufficient packaging. 📍 Errors in stowing the cargo inside the container. 📍 Damage not reflected in the E&R and signed by the consignee. 📍 The cargo was removed from the container and it cannot be determined what caused the damage. 📍 Lack of damage certificate report prepared by experts 📍 Claim presented out of time. 🔎🔎 What else would you do? I read them with interest. #QuestionForGroup #logistics #supplychain #cargodamage #reinventatehoy
