I recently purchased the Zepto Pass, which promised waived delivery fees for orders above ₹99—a benefit I thought was well worth the ₹29 I paid. With this in mind, I made purchases almost every day, carefully planning and chunking my orders to meet the minimum order value. After a few orders, I noticed something peculiar: a small “Apply” button next to the message, “Free delivery coupon unlocked.” That moment sparked two simultaneous reactions in me. As a consumer, I felt angry and frustrated. But as someone working in product and growth, I felt disappointed. This was a clear misuse of inattentional blindness. For context, inattentional blindness occurs when people focus so intently on one task or goal that they miss critical details elsewhere (if you’re curious, I recommend taking the Gorilla test) In this case, Zepto cleverly directs users’ attention toward meeting the minimum order value, reinforces this effort with a satisfying “goal achieved” message, and relies on animated feedback to solidify that sense of completion. Yet, despite achieving the goal, users still need to tap “Apply” to activate the free delivery—a step that many might miss due to their narrowed focus. From a behavioural design perspective, it’s a well-executed trick. But it’s also a disingenuous one. While I fully support behavioural design that drives revenue and aligns with business goals, it should never come at the expense of consumer trust. #behaviour #design #product #growth

You can now submit projects & portfolios directly from the site. anything you share will be up within 6 hours of sharing. 2. You can use filters to find projects that you are interested in. Filter with domains and industries, project type or the scope of work for the projects. 3. You can now create your profile on the app. 4. UI update! I also made the site more easy to use and navigate (and cuter). check out the new features and use this as a board to share your projects.

If you like it, appreciate it!! Zepto Pass - It's a well-thought-out experiment to build loyalty in the hyperlocal grocery delivery sector. Memberships are nothing new but execution can bring the difference. Here's why I liked it - 💸 Price Point - Even Infrequent user would be tempted to buy to save instantly on delivery - Couldn't have been higher than INR 39/month (Swiggy One, and has a host of other perks too) - Monthly is better, run a controlled experiment - Hard to miss UX placement - No wonder subscription already hit 1 Million 🛵 Free Delivery - Rely on proven fact "We Indians don't want to pay for delivery" - Easier push for repeat orders, higher active user base 🤑 Additional discounts - With a fine print of minimum cart size - Pushes to raise average cart value This is only a post-mortem analysis, but the hard muscle goes in arriving at metrics that seem easier once out. Like on what cart size to give discounts, how much discount to apply, pass price point etc etc etc. Kudos to Zepto product team! 6moOne thing I don’t like about Zepto is that with free pass free delivery should be auto applied, instead user has to click on free delivery button every time. It’s an extra click for user and sometimes in a hurry user end up paying delivery free and there is no direct refund for that flow.
