In my latest column for Business in Calgary Magazine this month, I take a deeper dive into the Green Line project and its potential impact on the future of our city. From its ambitious goals to the growing concerns around cost and execution, there’s a lot to unpack about what this means for Calgary’s development. I’d love to hear your thoughts after reading the full article—let me know in the comments below! Unfortunately, the 1.56 billion the feds are kicking in will equate to about a couple hundred bucks in 30 years! The project is grossly over-budget now, before it even get's going. Shelf it and get back to the drawing board. It's not easy being green!
It makes me wonder if private enterprise couldn’t do this much better by owning the project and leasing the usage back to the city or province. I wonder if the politics of the whole thing instead has put it into the mud. Has Shane Homes considered building mass transportation?😏
“Wow” Ty Shane…

3moHas anyone compared the cost of tunnels with a tube train for the futuristic ideas we are seeing come to life in California? I feel the train idea is already old technology. I’m all for cancelling the project. If we feed the current lines with efficient bus lines we could increase ridership can’t we? I see a lot of big empty buses in the south.
