Let's get Phygital! 🚀 By 2028, in-store retail media spend is projected to reach over $1 billion, yet it will represent less than 1% of total omnichannel retail media ad spending. 📊 Interestingly, while almost all (99%) of retail media ad spending will happen online, the majority of retail sales will still occur in physical stores. Despite the surge in online shopping driven by the pandemic, over 80% of the $7 trillion in US retail sales will continue to take place in physical stores this year. 💡 This shift is paving the way for a more digital in-store shopping experience, opening up new opportunities to integrate digital media. The pandemic has accelerated consumer adoption of digital technologies for in-person shopping, with expanded use cases for QR codes, digital payment options, and contactless pickup. "US eCommerce is far from the ceiling ... Ecommerce was 45.9% of China's 2023 retail sales, while the UK was at 29.6%. The US, in comparison, was at 15.6%, per our forecasts." Although eCommerce has grown to the avg. of 15% in CEE (higher in Czechia and Poland), when we are speaking to traditional brick & mortar retailers, the share of their online sales is still only at around 10%. According to predictions, we will only reach 20% in 4 years time!!! So, similarly to the US, we are also very far from the ceiling! Change cannot happen without investment into a customer focused personalisation strategy and omnichannel transformation!
